“Stay at East Midlands Airport Premier Inn”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

I have stayed at Eat Midlands Airport Premier Inn regularly on business. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it has good security features. It has recently been redecorated (so smelt of paint the day I stayed). Lovely new restaurant area, and a new large TV in the my room (with good range of channels). Room clean and comfortable.

We needed to stay close to the airport for an early flight the next morning. This was a good choice, nice friendly check in and the room was clean and fine. You know what you're getting here. Bed was comfy and we made the flight with time to spare.

Stayed prior early morning flight. Had the choice of a couple of fly and park hotels, although unlike some hotels you cannot actually leave your car here, you have to park at airport. Decided to go with tried and tested Premier Inn. Location good, 2 minutes from airport. Staff excellent, very friendly, even when the iron blew up in my wifes hand! Room, looking tired and small TV, no fridge and limited drinks. Disappointingly, unlike other premier inns i have stayed in, the on site restaurant was expensive, so much so we went to the Harvester pub at the services 2 mins away. What a great decision.. Great food, great service and great price. More annoying it was right next to the travelodge which i had rejected in favour of premier inn. No brainer next time!

Have stayed at here before. However this time had trouble booking in as the lady at reception told us that we had only booked 2 rooms instead of 3. Then proceeded to tell us that only two of the party had booked breakfast which again was incorrect. Further when we arrived back at the Premier Inn loud music could be heard. Not a good start.

At around 4 am the guests above were very noisy this continued till well past 6 am.

Rooms extremely warm.

However rooms clean and breakfast was good shame that the guests above were so noisy.

I've stayed in many Premier Inns around the country, including those near airports and never had any problems.

However, this was not the case with this stay. I'd booked for 2 nights as I was attending a course nearby. I thought I couldn't go wrong with Premier Inn as you know what you're getting.

Check in - easy and very nice staff

Room - first room I was sent to was on the 2nd floor where there was a huge refurbishment going on. I hadn't been warned about this, either upon booking or when I checked in. The whole corridor stank of paint and this went into the bedroom too. So much so that I couldn't stay in there and asked to be moved. They did this efficiently and smoothly. New room was on 1st floor but was front facing - they didn't have any other rooms to put me in. The heating system in the room was ancient and very noisy. You had to put the thermostat very high to be able to efficiently heat the whole room, but the machine made quite a racket. Also, once in bed the noise from outside from the aeroplanes was very noticeable and loud. Within the hotel there was the sound of banging doors from about 5am onwards. I could hear all this through ear plugs!! The bathroom was fine but smelled of the food being cooked in the restaurant directly beneath me. It seemed to come straight through the extractor fan. Bed was as comfy as all Premier Inn ones are so happy with that. TV and kettle worked. Everything was very clean - so happy with that.

Restaurant - booked a table upon arrival for dinner. Food took 40 minutes to arrive, so very slow. When it came out my burger was totally burned to charcoal. Sent it back and had to wait a further 20 minutes (after prompting the staff) to get the replacement. This was awful. So after an hour of waiting I had no food to eat and had to go elsewhere - I didn't pay for that food. That made my decision not to have breakfast there either and had dinner elsewhere the following night. The staff themselves were very polite and as efficient as they could be, but there was only 2 of them and they could have done with another 1 or 2.

Staff - overall very nice, efficient and helpful.

Room Tip: If you're staying here as for a room facing the back as it's quieter and be warned about the...

Stayed here before an early flight. Hotel close to airport but couldnt hear any noise at all. Room ok quite comfortable

Booked a table in restaurant - was busy and took about 40 minutes to get order and the food was alright but nothing special.

Staff friendly and mostly efficient. Would stay again and recomend if have a flight early.

Starting with the good - faced with a chance guest arriving in a power chair for breakfast, the staff were friendly, very helpful, and far better than the norm. The breakfast though was strange - as the bacon, sausage and potatoes had been griddled on a hot plate still enjoying last nights steak juices, so had a really odd taste to them. The very small portion of scrambled eggs were tasteless, but that is nothing new in any hotel. The self serve toaster (with what I call instant bread - no taste or flavour) either was under done on one run through, or overdone on a second. Again this is nothing new in any hotel offering this type of service (or lack of it),
A PLEA TO ALL HOTELIERS - Toast should be made from thick bread, or allow us to cut our own. Butter should not be in foil packs that mean grease gets all over your hands, and the marmalade and jam should be TASTY, and not a coloured sweet spread. Not too much to ask is it?
