We have used the Grand to dine in and out a few times this month already. No complaints at all you get great freshly cooked food at very competitive prices.

My husband took me to the Grand because he had so enjoyed his first visit a few weeks ago. the decor was clean bright and there was plenty of room. It is down some steps into what looks to be a very large cellar but do not let that put you off. It does not feel cold and clammy in any way. They have room for 12 - 20 in a party. Maybe even more but you had better find out.

We got there at 5.30 pm so there was no one else there. The staff were very attentive and warned me there maybe quite a wait as they were making my Somali Chicken fresh. This is due to an allergy to dairy and the reason we go early doors to restaurants. It gives them and us time.

We began with pops and pickles (v nice). They left the pickles on the table for us with our starters. Very good and plenty of it.

They did not hassel us in any way and allowed us a good time to relax whilst eating. When our main course came I couldn't believe the size of the portion. The waiter said with a smile 'don't worry if you can't manage it all we can box it up for you to take home' and wasn't I glad of that.

The food was very tasty. There were different dishes as well as the normal ones. I would recommend this very highly. if you do go early on the off chance and find it closed. Please be patient, the boys have a lot of traffic to get through before getting to Belper. They come from Birmingham every evening. Now would you travel that far to work?

Please give this Grand place a try.

Visited Wednesday 29th May, a little scary at first as you have to walk down stairs and can't see into the restaurant until you enter...but you must enter as excellent. The food was hot, tasty and excellent value. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you stay in the area would totally recommend........a welcome re-fuel after a days walking

Service was reasonable and food was average with good portions. We had garlic chilli chicken which was a little dry. Probably wouldn't go back as there are other Indian restaurants in Belper which are better quality
