Having visited the Bear for Sunday lunch several times we chose to visit for xmas day. service was terrible and only managed to get through the first two courses before we finally decided to complain and walk out no organisation at all. Very disappointed to say the least.

We visited The Bear yesterday for a late lunch / early dinner. I had the lasagne which looked and tasted homemade and came with big chips and salad all of which were lovely. My sister had a steak pie which she enjoyed. The service was excellent. My only complaint was that it wasnt very warm in the pub but it was blowing a gale outside, was only early and we did sit near the window which probably didnt help. All in all, we had a lovely meal in a lovely pub and will definitely be back.

Myself and my wife have been going to the bear with the kids for the past 6 years. We loved and raved about it to all of our family and friends. But now it has completely gone down hill. Before you could overlook the bad interior poor quality toilets and some staff that have never been able to crack there face with a smile with the exception of elmer who is just the most fantastic and talented guy who is wasted there. Now its as if there doing you a favour by eating there but the food is terrible. After 6 years of goin to our favourite cavery they have ruined it and we will not be going back....

I had a great evening with friends at the Bear Inn and enjoyed it enough to bother to comment. In order of importance, the pedigree Bear ale was top notch. The food was tasty, the lamb delicious, veggies and potatoes complimented and didn't hinder the meal. Three courses was plenty - no room for desert which I am sure would have been brilliant. So, go with friends, enjoy the ambience with your meal and have a great time. Cheers!

This was my first visit to this pub/restaurant and found it very charming and in a beautiful location. It was very quiet on our midweek lunchtime visit but we had 3 courses, all of which were lovely and were good size portions. The only thing that let it down slightly was the waitress/barmaid who didn't seem interested in our table and her customer service was quite poor which was a shame as the food and location are lovely.
