Four of us just returned from having a meal as it was the only place in the locality open for food around 5.00 pm. This was at the end of the "afternoon" menu and before the "evening" menu, and it showed. The quiche was served cold with no-one asking if we wanted it warm, the new potatoes had obviously just been warmed up as several had black on one side and were hard.
The pie was very dry and meat in the outer edges of the crust was black, obviously had just been kept warm, although they assured us it was not "just warmed up". Sorry, but it was too obvious to be anything else. The gravy moistened it fortunately. The only dish which was OK was the scampi.
The ice cream trio was mostly vanilla, not really a problem but the board did say vanilla, strawberry and raspberry. The crumble was good.
Service was strange. No gravy was brought with the pie, we had to ask for it. When we ordered the coffees, we asked for cream, however a jug of milk was brought. When we queried this, we were told they thought we were talking about the crumble. The coffees were brought first, then the crumble and ice cream followed about 5 minutes later.
If you do go for a meal, either go earlier in the afternoon when the food is fresh, or wait and order from the dinner menu.
