Visited this pub several times on trips back to UK, it's a convenient stop between Manchester Airport and Sheffield.

We chose traditional pub food from their menu, there is a decent choice. Scampi, fish and chips etc.

Food is at a good quality and portions are not over facing like some pub food in the UK these days.

The pub has a nice atmosphere and was busy when we visited, this did not impact service which was polite and efficient.

The overall meal cost around £50 which I consider to be on the high side for 3 adults and 1 child meal and 4 soft drinks hence the 4 rating.

Very picturesque surroundings with plenty of nice walks.

We went at the beginning of December on a Friday night. We have been about 10 previously and were looking forward to choosing from their extensive menu, particularly the beef as the landlord raises his own cattle.
Only the Christmas menu was available and the choice was Belly Pork, Turkey or Salmon. Very disappointing. We had to resort to the specials board (choice of pheasant, steak, fish & chips or scampi).
The food was lovely.
Just don't go in December if you want choice!
We will return.

Loads of Sunday walks around here which get the appetite going for a hearty feed, but also a great place just to eat from the menu.
I've been a number of times, but this review will cover the fillets of plaice selection I made after a 7 mile walk. I'm currently on a diet and this meal was filling as well as we'll executed. I'm definitely coming back

What a wonderful place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Beautiful old pub with lovely menu. Menu isn't vast but perfect variation to suit all tastes. Food freshly made and very tasty. Lots of choice with ales etc which suited hubbie just fine :-) Will return again and will happily bring some friends. Highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys wholesome food and a laid back approach

On a walking trip we decided to visit the Ladybower Inn for dinner. We had a most enjoyable meal. The food is fresh and homecooked. The fish, the deserts and the beer were all excellent. Very good value for money. We will certainly visit again when in the area.
