Characterful property with excellent views situated just outside the Peak District National Park, but surrounded by very attractive countryside in its own right. The owner Ann is very pleasant and welcoming. The area is exceptionally quiet, and plenty of wildlife (especially birds) for those who are interested.
Ashbourne is a short drive away, even nearer is the up-market Duncombe Arms in Ellastone, expensive, but very good.
I shall be very surprised if we don't return before long.
We loved our stay at the Groom's cottage. Very clean and spacious. The cottage has got excellent landscape and is managed by a very lovely couple. We would recommend it to everyone 100%.
wonderful accommodation and welcome from Ann, just what we needed for a special family weekend gathering. Accommodation was great for a family group of 6 adults and 3 little people. loads of space and lovely rooms, all set in gorgeous surroundings.
We were a group of 9 people, two families with 5 children and the cottage worked for us perfectly. From arrival until departure, the place felt like home. There is fully equipped kitchen, lounge with a fireplace and a series of bedrooms upstairs. A box of chocolate brownies and a bottle of milk in the fridge on arrival made for a lovely touch. English countryside at its best (including 2 days of sunsine!), we will definitely come back again!
We spent Easter at Groom's Quarters and it proved to be an excellent choice! There were seven of us and there was plenty of room and the rooms and beds were very comfortable. Home made brownies and a bottle of wine were waiting for us on our arrival, which was a nice touch. The weather wasn't always great but on one rainy afternoon we all sat n the lounge heated by a delicious smelling log burner chatting, reading and playing games - it was really relaxing! We also enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at the Dunscombe Arms in Ellastone, a couple of miles from the cottage. I would thoroughly recommend a stay a Groom's Quarters.
The house is great and very well equipped and surrounded by lovely countryside for walks and not far from the Peak District for even more walking. The homemade brownies waiting for us were a lovely touch and delicious.
