“I didn't want to leave”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

My partner and I spent 4 nights here and couldn't fault it. The house had everything we needed and more. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Great shower. Comfy beds. Our host, Izzy, lit a fire for us when we arrived and was friendly and helpful. A pantry with a few staples was really helpful - my partner and I like to cook but do not want to have to buy all the basics when we travel, so it is really handy when we stay somewhere that has a bit of a store cupboard. The outdoor area was beautiful. Very quiet at night. Great views from some of the windows. Fenny Bentley is very central and we found it a great base for our adventures in Derbyshire. I would stay there again without hesitation.

“The Perfect Base for our Weekend Break”
Reviewed April 7, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We booked Swallows Cottage for a weekend break for the four of us. We'd wanted somewhere within a couple of hours driving time, in a country location, warm and comfortable and close to some decent cycling routes with a reasonably priced pub or restraunt nearby. It didn't disappoint. We were met on arrival and welcomed to the property. The cottage was clean and warm and more than adequately kitted-out for our needs. We spent the following day cycling at Carsington Water followed by a lunch stop in Ashbourne. On the owners recommendation we ate out that evening at The Old Gate Inn in Brassington. Three of the four meals really were excellent and the fourth was still very good.

We would be happy to recommend Swallows Cottage as a comfortable location for a stay in the Peak District.

I'm so pleased you had a good break - and managed to find The Olde Gate in Brassington - we love it for the fact that it is still a proper village pub (we used to live in Brassington)and pleased to hear that the food was great.
Thank you so much for such a helpful review.

Thank you so much for your lovely review - I'm so glad you had a good break and only sorry that we weren't here to meet you. Thank you too for the comments about the kitchen floor - very helpful. I have now put a large rug on the floor to take away any chill.

“Perfect and Cosy Winter Retreat”
Reviewed January 31, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We had a winter break for a couple of nights at Swallows Cottage. It was perfect! There was a lovely warm welcome on our arrival, the cottage is fitted out with everything you could need, not to mention the beautiful log fire. Set in a lovely area, with some gorgeous walks, we had a truly wonderful stay. We cant wait to visit again in the summer to make the most of the pool! I couldn't recommend it more highly!

“Beautiful 5 Star Country Retreat”

This has to be one of the most beautiful cottages to holiday in. Beautifully & tastefully presented - a real Interior designers touch is apparent. Farrow & Ball walls, leather sofa, four poster bed, luxurious fabrics - what more can you ask for. So cosy with the log burner going. We had a great pre Christmas reunion weekend here - and it looked so beautiful decorated for Christmas. The countryside is amazing with pheasants in the grounds. Izzy is delighful but very unobtrusive. A delightful cottgage in a delightful and scenic area. We shall return many times to this outstanding cottage. Thanks again Izzy.
