“Honeymoon dinner better than the wedding :)”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

We decided on a very last minute honeymoon and was ringing around numerous restaurants to celebrate our last night in the Peak District. Luckily, the lighthouse kindly accommodated us despite being fully booked. We had the 8 course taster menu as we couldn't decide on just one dish and it was mind blowing from start to finish. The scallops and pork and the John Dory and clams were both sensational. The white chocolate sphere was just delightful, what a gorgeous end to the meal. Cannot forget the orange sorbet, what a refreshing addition to the cheesecake. Just the perfect amount of food in a lovely contemporary atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and the chefs were super! If you are in the area then you have to give this place a visit. You need to book, as it is a little bit of a trek and you will be gutted if you have to walk away from this hidden gem!! You guys deserve Michelin stars and we both hope you get the recognition you work so hard for. Thank you for making the last night of our honeymoon great, we hope to come back soon.

“Masterchef-style food”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

We tried the tasting menu for dinner. Absolutely stunning food and great service. The reason for four stars, not five, is that several courses were served in bowls, which was annoying and impractical (difficult to eat from and nowhere to lay your knife and fork once you've finished), as well as feeling a bit gimmicky. If they switched to proper plates, it'd be a five-star review from me.

“This is one Special Place”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

I took my wife for a surprise birthday meal on the 5/7/14, and from start to finish the service at this restaurant is the best I've experienced. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and cannot do enough for you. The food is ordered in fresh every day, and the ingredients are top quality. We had the 7 course tasting menu,
the amuse bouche was a runny quail egg encased in smoked haddock and deep fried in breadcrumbs. We could have eaten a plate full! It was gorgeous!
We love good food and this is some of the best we've ever had. If there was anything I could criticise, it would have to be the selection of plate for some of the courses. The correct choice of plate/dish could have showcased the food properly and a couple of times the dishes were distracted by blue porcelain bowls. (but that is being overly critical)
Everyone needs to visit this little known place! You will not be disappointed.
