We both had a really nice time on Valentines night, this being only the second time we've visited The Dining Room since moving to the Dales.
Eight courses of lovingly prepared food, subtle flavours and all perfectly cooked with emaculate attention to detail. Excellent service by the staff, prepared to go the extra mile to make sure our dining experience went smoothly. During the meal I asked if I could have a non-alcoholic 'mock-tail' as I was driving, and although cocktails aren't strictly served, the bar manager went out of her way to prepare me something.
Only one thing I would say though, to be taken as constructive feedback is to respectfully ask Peter, Chef proprietor, to please re-think The Dining Room's position on serving foie gras. It's a cruel and inhumane practice by which birds are force fed grain. I’m not sure too many people realise how inhumane the practice is and don’t realise or care what they’re consuming?
I however pre-requested no foie gras on my plate, which was not a problem for them and was served a fish dish instead. The only slight disappointment was that fois gras accompanied the duck, a dish I’m really partial to.
Being really picky here also, but as it was Valentines night, it would have been a nice touch if they'd prepositioned the table of two's into diamond shapes, allowing couples to sit next to each other rather than face to face. A few candles would have added to the romance and ambience as well.
That said though, we very much look forward to our next visit!
