Stayed here for one night on business, very enjoyable stay. Positive points were
- nice cosy room, well decorated with unusual layout
- clean and modern bathroom with a fantastic shower (very powerful)
- comfy chair, desk and LCD tv which was a decent size for the room
- food was excellent, I had the sirloin (£19) which was great but would of expected veg for the price
- a different than the usual bar collection with local beers, as I stay at hotels a lot this was well received

The main negative was the slow breakfast, I ordered scrambled eggs on toast and this took longer than 25 mins. However the buffet breakfast was good. Wifi was also patchy but I had no major issues.

All in all, I recommend this hotel

Stayed one night (after my son's wedding reception which was held here and was fantastic by the way - beautiful grounds and function room, gorgeous food and helpful and pleasant staff). Our room was extremely pleasant with good quality fittings and very comfortable bed. Had continental breakfast as was too fragile for full English but those who had that said it was lovely. An excellent wedding venue and really nice rooms - couldn't fault a thing.

Recently stayed here with a Groupon deal for two nights, however myself and my husband were that impressed we will happily pay full price for our next stay. An absolute little gem hidden away in it's own grounds. Beautiful surroundings for an intimate getaway or even a wedding. The whole place was gorgeous. Food was absolutely delicious. Service from everyone was polite and very pleasant without being intrusive. We certainly cant wait to book for our next visit.

Having underwent renovations, this hotel, located in a manor house, managed to preserve a cosy and welcoming traditional English style and has a very positive feel about it. The staff are very attentive and polite. We stayed in a small, but comfortable room with a side view. The sleeping quality was superb, actually, the best hotel bed I’d ever slept in. Coffee and tea making facilities had it all and beyond, like filter coffee, which was such a bonus to us. The bathroom with a nice, modern shower could be reached via a wardrobe area that led from the bedroom. This was a very handy idea and clever use of space. And plenty of hangers in the wardrobe! There was free WiFi internet in the room, although not a very stable signal.
Continental breakfast perfectly suited our needs: good selection of cereals, fruit and preserved fruit, low fat yoghurts etc. Full English was available for an extra charge. We stayed in the hotel for two nights and had both of our evening meals in the hotel restaurant. The hotel had an offer of a free bottle of wine with a three course meal, which we took on the first night, but free wine wasn’t to our taste and that offer wasn’t good value for money. Food-wise both meals were delicious. A nice restaurant on the premises is a real advantage, because the location of the hotel is a bit isolated and off the beaten track. It’s not the best location for Lake District activities, but manageable. However, the value for money - and we went there on a special offer - is outstanding and outweighs small disadvantages.

Room Tip: For a special treat book the room with a four poster bed, there are only two of them and they have a...
