“Great Staff”

Central location, I suppose the name is a bit of a clue.
Clean and comfortable with a great breakfast.
I was given a room on the 5th floor, a converted loft, no proper windows only Velux style openings, very warm with temperature difficult to control, don' t get me wrong the room was fine though small, and pushing the 4 star rating a little.
I would stay again without hesitation, however if I went with family I would ensure that I was located away from the loft!!!

Room Tip: keep off the 5th floor

Spent a week here recently whilst working in the area. Its central location means its handy for town but parking space is at a premium. Keith and his staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and the complimentary glass of port each night was a welcome bonus. We enjoyed all our meals which were cooked fresh unlike many places I could mention.

our room (44 ) was priced for a doubleat a cost of 140 .00 per night ,but due to the large pillar at the left side of the bed making it difficult to get past, more so during the night a little dangerous as there was also a standard lamp and an arm chair to struggle past..
I would recomment
1) to make the room solo accupancy.
2)Move the bed to the opposite wall.

I did inform the male receptionist of my concerns but was told he had not seen the room! But to let my husband sleep on that side.

Staff at the bar were very nice and welcoming, also breakfast was very well cooked.

Staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, you even get a complimentary glass of port and home made short bread biscuits - a nice touch.
Food is great, especially breakfast.
Can't comment on the gym etc as have never used.
Good location next to town centre shops.
I have in the past booked last minute and ended up being transferred to the SleepWell Inn that they own across the road (it's much like a Travelodge but you still have breakfast at the Washington) I wouldn't advise staying there if you can avoid it, it's VERY basic.

Room Tip: Book as far ahead as possible in Summer months

The hotel is located in the town centre and the staffon reception were very nice. It has a good pool and the room was clean and nicely decorated although very small. The breakfast was poor, there was a limited selection on the starters Buffet and the cooked breakfast was overcooked. Service at breakfast was poor. If it had been £70 for a double I would have had no complaints but at the discounted rate of £112 or the normal rate of £140 it falls well below the standard you would expect.

Just a line to say how much we enjoyed our stay with you recently. We are only sorry it was so short. We arrived and were greeted with the minimum of fuss and friendly smiling staff at the front desk.
Our room was small but spotlessly clean and we had lovely coffee/tea making facilities in our room. The cafetiere was a winner with me - and the note left saying if we would prefer fresh milk instead of the little long life "cups", just to ask. Great!
And we were given a key to the front door as we were going to be back late and there were lights on when we came back to see where we were going and books on the shelves.... we were told that if we wanted a book, then to take it and it would be nice to replace with another book we have already read and leave it there. What a lovely touch. Very homely and easy. Loved it.
We would love to come and stay again and this time for a longer time.
