“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

I've been intending to submit this review for some time but we had an excellent week's holiday in Lyzzick Hall in July. We have an 11 month-old baby and Lyzzick appealed to us in that it's of a size that our monitor worked in the restaurant and bar areas; we could therefore put our baby to bed and go downstairs to enjoy our dinner (whilst keeping an ear out). This little bit of additional freedom was fantastic. The staff had actually booked us our room for this very reason (being above the restaurant); I think the room was Walla Crag.

Overall the staff were fantastic. We took the dinner, bed and breakfast on several nights and the meals were excellent and of a very high standard. The hotel itself is nicely decorated (in a country house way) and the pool was lovely to come home to after a day in the lakes. Overall we would thoroughly recommend it.

Top class hotel, with amazing food, superb views as it sits on the side of a fell near Keswick.
Super mature gardens and grounds around the hotel. Very friendly staff will ensure you have a very enjoyable stay.

I arranged this weekend trip for four couples. There was a very warm welcome from the staff that persisted throughout our stay. The standard rooms were spotless and well-provided, and sleep was a very peaceful affair. The food was excellent value for the inclusive a-la-carte menu, and wine was reasonable. Service was very prompt and efficient wherever, and they provided a fabulous drying room service for all our (thoroughly) wet walking gear.

We all said we'd go back.

Really recomend this hotel. Excellent rooms and food, the hotel is central for visiting places and walks. We had a lovely room with a fantastic view of the mountains. The breakfast was excellent with choices of cooked or freas friut, cereal etc.. Had no prolbems at all and would diffently return.

We booked our room through booking.com & confirmed via email prior to our arrival with no problems. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel boasts stunning views out over the fells, & is only a 10 minute walk away from a viewpoint of Derwent Water. The food served in the restaurant was absolutely DELICIOUS! Hands down the best lamb I have ever tried. My other half was pleased that the menu changed daily, as he is somewhat of a fussy eater, & the menu changes seemed to suit his palate. Breakfast was again no disappointment, with lots of choice & plenty of tea & toast flowing! Our room was spotlessly clean, with crisp clean sheets.
The use of the hot tub & pool was a welcome bonus after our hill walking ventures.
The best thing about this hotel is the stunning views, however it would still be an excellent hotel if it did not have the views. It's a short drive into Keswick town centre.
There were very few negative points to our stay, the only thing I could mention was that each room did not have access to an iron, but you could have asked reception for the use of one. One thing my other half mentioned was he wished there was more information in the welcome pack in the room, as there was no informstion on check-out time in there, nor any information regarding the local are etc. However I'm certain that the staff would have been more than helpful with this if we'd asked.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of the fells, as then you don't have too many stairs to walk!

We stayed at lyzzickhall for one night dinner bed and breakfast which at £89 pppn was an absolute bargain. When we checked in it seemed as if the owner knew everyones name and ours by the time we were shown to our extremely clean room with a fantastic view. A few hours later after a short trip into Keswick and a visit to derwent water just 5 minutes drive away we had a coffee on the terrace and relaxed. The four course dinner was of exceptional standard and we retired to one of the lounges with wine and delicious homemade chocolates. We will definitely be paying another visit...
