Driving to this pub really makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. Once inside the pub, it has a fantastic atmosphere, and the feel of a proper, family run country pub. There is a good selection of local beers. My wife and I ate there, and both had the game and red wine pie, an excellent winter warmer after a long day's walking, plus the wonderful open fire was certainly welcome. I highly recommend this pub, partly because it seems to be off the beaten track and very good value, but mostly because it is a proper pub!

Lovely pub, welcoming, friendly staff. Food excellent and good value for money. Can definitely recommend the Sunday lunch. Got all the little things right with attention taken to detail. Attitude spot on. We will certainly be visiting again

We were staying in the local camping pods and for one night we decided to go for a meal at the local pub not really knowing what to expect.

As soon as you walk in you feel at home with the open fire and country furnishings and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

The menu gives loads of choice and the specials are as they say 'special'- we really were spoilt for choice.

The food was excellent, obviously homemade and due to that we couldn't resist a starter and a main both being lovely.

Overall a fantastic place to eat or have a drink. Dont be tempted to drive further a field when a pub of this quality is on your doorstep.

We've been coming here for many years for lunch while walking in Grizedale. Recently under new management and it's better than ever! We had two excellent pies with mash and the kids had burger and chips and ham egg and chips. Everything was delicious. Tried three of the four ales, all we're excellent. The new owners should be lauded for taking on the pub and putting in some serious hard graft which had definitely paid off. Well done and we'll be back next year.

The Eagles Head what a treat!
My family and I spent Burns night here, it’s situated in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been too.
The haggis specials were delicious and the atmosphere was cosy with a roaring fire. The service and staff were excellent and the local ales were wonderful (all at good price too). We enjoyed our evening so much after a lakeland walk we came back for a Sunday roast, a definite must when your there.
The new owners Emma and Simon were so welcoming defiantly recommend can't wait to go back!
