Thank you for you lovely review - so pleased you enjoyed your time with us - we look forward to seeing you again soon. Good to read your review on Australasia too, I really wanted to eat here on our last trip to M'cr but the rest of our party weren't so keen. Might take Craig for our anniversary!

Kind Regards,
Louise Sherrington

Had a rather late festive meal out with my fiance in January & we both felt that every course we had was absolutely delicious.
We both had a duck salad to start, which was to our surprise cold, but really nice. Then I had the most tasty lamb roast & my fiance had the traditional turkey dinner. Meat was cooked to perfection & choice of vegetables & potatoes were lovely. We did not leave a thing on our plates it was so good. Lovely refreshing sorbet then both of us onto a date & walnut steamed pudding with toffee sauce; beautiful!
Service was good although it was not busy in the restaurant part; others dining had opted to eat in the cosy pub part by the real fire.
Definately worth a visit, highly recommended.

Thank you for your lovely review, we're pleased to hear you've enjoyed your evening at the General Burgoyne. We do like to do things just a little bit differently at the Burgoyne, so there may be a few unexpected elements with a number of our dishes. We base our dishes around the traditional but put our own twist on it. We look forward to welcoming you to the General Burgoyne on future occasions.

The main part of the General has remained unchanged for at least 40 years. It is a quaint old world style pub with a roaring fire, beams on the ceiling and little nooks and crannies which add to the feeling of cosyness. Built alongside is a conservatory room which provides more tables. I usually book a table because even during mid week this place gets popular... and deservedly so. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent and well priced. My favourite is the deli platter. My choice out of a long list is : aromatic smoked chicken, thick tasty ham, 2 excellent cheeses , warm bread and salad.. delicious! I also appreciate the 'wine' deal', buy 2 large glasses of wine and the rest of the bottle is free, to share with a friend of course!! An excellent place for lunch.[ I must try the evenings.]

Thank you for your kind words. Good to hear we've managed to redecorate sympathetically. Updating the decor without ruining any of the olde worlde charm was exactly what we hoped to achieve. We look forward to providing you with just an enjoyable experience in the evening as you have enjoyed at lunchtimes.

We went for Sunday Lunch for my birthday after reading about it in Cumbria Life.
We were not disappointed !! The ambience was lovely we sat by the fire and enjoyed a thoroughly delicious meal. Service was attentive but not in your face and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We will most definately return.
