“Traditional Sunday Carvery”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

Enjoyed the sunday carvery here with other family members. Food was traditional and well presented. The service we received from waiting staff was excellent and should be commended. Easy to find on the main street of St. Bees.

I really enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the Manor House Hotel. The room suited my needs perfectly and the staff were very friendly and very willing to accommodate reasonable requests for assistance. I enjoyed an evening meal from the wide and varied menu and a very satisfactory breakfast the following morning. The bar is well stocked with a good range of regular and guest ales. I would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending the Manor House to you.

Hi All. The Mano House Hotel is an excellent place to stop and rest your weary feet after your walks in Cumbria. A very warm Welcome by all the staff members and the proprietor Alan. Upon entering this hotel one is made to feel at home and greeted by the locals and a warm blazing fire. The Food here is superb and all freshly made on the premises by the wonderful chef Ken. There is a wide variety of local produce and fare to be tasted including the famous Cumbrian Sausage. Their home made steak pies are delicious, Good soups and chowder's too. Their selection of fresh made desserts are truly delicious. Food in the winter time is truly excellent with a lovely daily menu for Lunch fresh Scampi and Breaded mushrooms served with salad, chips and garlic bread. They have the finest Ales and have won many stars and awards for selection each month. The bedrooms are beautifully attired . The staff help you with luggage and ensure your stay is warm and welcoming. This hotel is ideal for your commencement or end of journey in Cumbria. St. Bees Head and beach are few minutes stroll from here. There also is great music and entertainment put on for various events. There is a private dinning room for private parties. I would rate here at an excellent hotel to stay in be it for local food or overnight. The train station is five minutes from this hotel and one may commute to anywhere directly to Manchester Airport too.

Room Tip: Room at the very top of stairs, overlooking the Main street of St Bees Lovely old building former C...

Had booked this hotel as a family room for a group of friends (4 individuals) via laterooms.com - we had a lastminute booking and this was one of the few places that took a 1 night booking over the weekend.

On the day of arrival, I was asked by Alan, the owner, over the phone if there were indeed 4 adults staying in the family room. I confirmed, to be told that laterooms mark this room wrong and it only fits 3! Luckily he had a twin available so instead of the family room, he sorted us out with two twin rooms instead.

Dinner was good, a small private dining room and they allowed us a late order (8.30pm) with food coming out fairly quickly. Our room luckily faced the back and thus not as much noise as some of the front rooms. Rooms were basic, but perfectly adequate - I would expect to bring my own toiletries so this did not bother me.

Breakfast the next day cooked on request and was good - checkout was swiftly and Alan was very kind, despite this being the error of laterooms.com he only charged us a nominal additional fee for the extra room, which was much appreciated. Also he enjoyed chatting about the mountain rescue team, which added a nice personal touch.

All in all, perfectly adequate for a B&B with a very friendly atmosphere.

They were accommodating of me wanting dinner a little later (7pm) even though they had a busy dining room. As the inn is a little older expect some creaky floorboards here and there! And in the morning despite me rising a little late (9am), they were still happy to serve me breakfast. Lovely country inn, and excellent service!

As soon as we arrived the staff were really helpful , noticed a nice beer garden out the back by the car park. Although the menu was small all the food was tasty , with a fine selection of ales and a small selection of malt whiskey ,the owner Alan was really helpful to all the guests he talked to , just a nice pleasant place to stay.

Room Tip: If you book room no 8 beware of the noise from the downstairs bar , they like the music loud

Didn't stay here but had an evening meal the night before starting the C2C walk. The place was heaving when we arrived and we thought there was some event on, but apparently it was the first time they had had a descent amount of sun for a while and the locals were just making the most of it. Once inside we found that there were plenty of tables free, but we did have to fight our way to the bar initially. They have a reasonably varied menu and a good selection of real ales. The waitress was very helpful and once ordered the food arrived fairly quickly. The food was good and plenty of it, we didn't have desserts as we were too full. Would definitely recommend it.
