We were made very welcome on a very blustery day with an open fire and some nice food. The train stops here so a train ride up or down the coast then step straight into the pub.

We visited this pub for an evening meal as it was reccomended to us to be able to take the dog,
A winter Saturday but seemed to get the last available table, food service was very quick and just what we wanted. I was a little disappointed the Jennings Lamb Shank was sold out , but it does feature in positive reviews! Think some reviewers perhaps forget this is a pub not a restaurant and the expectations are sometimes too high. As we were sat at the far end doubt many customers knew we had a dog as she lay under the table as she always does and was neither wet nor smelly!
My husband was impressed with the scotch types available and we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant evening. Sunday we walked back to Ravenglass with said dog just for a drink, it was quiet until the arrival of a cycling club who all seemed to order food which certainly all looked good. Will visit again if in the area for a drink , a meal or both!

We ate here with friends who have stayed in Ravenglass loads of times so have eaten here a lot. They booked a booth which we didn't think necessary but we were glad they did, as tables quickly filled up. However, for future vists we'd try a normal table, as there isn't a lot of space at the booths, and after a while you can start to feel uncomfortable.

The food is hearty pub fayre and value for money, and the bar has a selection of Jennings ales, which always make for a good combination.

This is a great place to dry off/warm up/fill up after a trip on the railway, we'd definitely recommend.

My friends and I stay in Eskdale/Wasdale every year to climb mountains, drink beer and do photography. One day, we decided to hop on the railway, and go to Ravenglass. We had a few beers, which were kept excellently, and some light food. They even had a Grafton ale on, which is microbrewed where we come from in Notts. The landlady was very knowledgable.
