“Great Day out”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Went to the Ratty today, live in Cumbria but haven't been for years. the weather was great to make it more special.
We went on Northern rail, far cheaper than taking the car and the kids loved it. Main train to small train in minutes!!
The train ride to dalegarth was nice and smooth, not a massive amount to do at either end, but we did go dressed for the summer so it did restrict us a little bit. Loads of walks to do if prepared!

A fast trip back pulled by a diesel engine, a bit rough but youngest was happy as wanted to get to play park at ravenglass.

A really good day out, fair price, really good ice cream, good food and the kids were really happy. What more could you want?

“Great views, fun ride”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

We took our visiting grandchildren for a ride on La'al Ratty and they loved it. The ride is pleasant with beautiful views and nice facilities on both ends. Good value for a pleasant afternoon out.

“Great for kids of all ages (especially grown-up ones)!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Real steam trains (minature), wonderful scenery and a great ride up Eskdale on a historic narrow guage railway. ne of our favorite things to do on a free afternoon. Friendly staff and volunteers and great tea-rooms at both ends of the line, especially at the Dalegarth end. Also a great way to travel up the valley if you fancy a stroll in upper Eskdale.

This is a good day out for a day ticket you can get on and off the trains all day long, for the older children you can do a good pub crawl up & down the valley the cafe in Ravenglass is good value for money

“Family day out”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Excellent reception by staff. Took time to answer all questions about the engines etc. Took Grandad to the shed to see a specific engine he'd asked about. Good weather made the journey very enjoyable - could be problematical in bad weather. Jan's home made pies in the cafe very good and good value.
