We spotted this on our way to Arnside and thought it would be a good location on the way back.
It is across the road from the waterside (when the tides in) and has a lovely outlook, the outside tables are great on a sunny evening, some of the traffic takes the corner a bit fast though, there is also a garden at the back for children to run about in. As it was sunday we had the roast with all the trimmings (actually 2 lamb cutlets each) from a selection available, it was perfectly cooked with a good selection of vegetables and potatoes. Staff/owner very friendly.

Have been on a number of with my friends and had a very pleasant time with a nice friendly landlady and her daughter. There was a good menu and we all had something different and it was all served warm and was really nice and tasty. They had a good selection of drinks you can sit outside if you are lucky it wont rain!!The views are wonderful and there is plenty of places to walk and see the incredible wildlife on the estuary. The egrets can been seen feeding along with herons and many other ducks and geese and further along you can walk along and see lots of birds and deer.A good friendly pub with good staff food and landlady who makes you feel welcome.

Called in hear recently having heard that it had changed hands, great setting looking up the lakes. Previous visit had been a disappointment but the new owners have really turned it around, it was buzzing on a Friday night with a live band on, despite being busy the service and food were good. Will definitely call back

Having visited previously when under dire management thought we would give them another go. Food ok, nothing to rave about. Decor awful but seems to be an ongoing job and I think they are trying. Toilets are ... I'd rather wait thanks. For a pub in such a beautiful place with such stunning views it has no wow factor either outside or in and very little atmosphere as there seem to be very few customers. It is a great pity and i can only wish the new lanlord luck in trying to re-establish the business.Although I think he and his staff need to smarten up and be a little more professional with diners. Being chatty and overfrienly is fine with regular drinkers but not what I want when eating.
Good luck in trying to re-establish The Ship as a place to eat. It will be a long slow process and sadly people will go elsewhere.

A party of 5 of us, including one wheelchair user, recently visited The Ship to celebrate joint wedding anniversaries and a 91st birthday. We enjoyed a lovely well cooked reasonably priced meal and a lovely view. The tenants have just signed a long lease and are working hard to breathe new life into the pub. Access was good but there was no accessible toilet although there may be one planned for the future. There is plenty of parking and a wonderful view over the waterside. Our only thought after we had left was that the room was a bit cool, that may have been due to the prevailing wind.
