Had another excellent week staying as a party of 5. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean rooms as always. The food has always been good but was even better this time - lots of choice and variety. Quiz night was fun - and all the Patterdale team go out of their way to make your stay comfortable - we'll be back again soon

Room Tip: Lakeland rooms are spacious and have great views - for only a few pounds extra

The hotel is ok, a pleasent welcome and good value, but the rooms are in need of decorating especially in the old section. Our impression was the hotel acts as if it is 4 star when really it`s only a 2 , this is evident when it came to food, the menu looks like it`s been written by Gordon Ramsey but the food didn`t match up to it. The breakfasts were fine with a good choice . All in all not bad.

Thiis was a return 3 night stay at the Hotel after a visit several years ago. The standard of the hotel was still very good - cleanlness, room, service etc.but the food (a big reason for returning) was totally disappointing. Breakfast was good each morning but dinner was not enjoyable. Tables were crammed too closely together in the dining room and one night we were served and left the diabolical duck main course also complained about by a reviewer in April. We thought the kitchen could not ruin treacle sponge also ordered but they did. It arrived undercooked and made with bitter, dark treacle not golden syrup as expected and was also left. The other two dinners were better but all main courses were served on the plate (no vegetable dishes to allow choice) with a bizarre combination of meat and every vegetable on the menu piled on. We would only book B & B if staying again.

Room Tip: Book a superior room at the front.

Excellent value for money.Lovely rooms. Evening meal was like a dodgy school dinner but felt at the price we'd paid, we wouldn't complain. Breakfast was better, though when the hotel is full, space is at a premium so make sure you arrive to be seated at the same time as your friends. Lovely lady on Reception!

Room Tip: All 3 rooms were fine.
