Great experience in the snow and made good use of our crampons and ice axes. Others not so well equipped struggled in places

St Sunday was our backup if Blencathra was too dangerous so we did not go to St Sunday but the research made it seem worthy

From Patterdale up to St Sunday Crag there was a good path leading to the summit. The views from the summit of St Sunday Crag were amazing but it was rather windy. The path to Grisedale Tarn is narrow and rocky and in parts a little slippery. From Grisdale Tarn, the path descended gently along the Tongue Gill to Grasmere. Had to walk over several small streams, using stepping stones. It took me just over 6 hours to complete the walk with some breaks in between. At the end of the walk, stopped at the Travellers Rest Inn for a drink before catching the bus back to Ambleside.
Wear a good pair of walking boots with ankle support, bring plenty of water, a pair of warm gloves and several layers of clothing, it gets cold very quickly when you sit down for a rest.
