Very warm welcome extended to us and our two young children, lovely home away from home atmosphere. Fab cheesecake and nice coffee served.

The Huntsman is attached to Newby Bridge Hotel. We weren't staying there but tried the Pub because it was locally recommended.
It's not a large pub and the seating arrangement seems to unnecessarily limit the number of customers who might want to sit down to eat and drink. Nevertheless it was quiet when we went so no problem in finding a vacant table.
The menu is fairly typical pub food, but is well cooked and presented. I can't honestly say it was the best pub grub I've tasted but it was "good" and fairly priced.
They have a good range of real and standard pressure barrel ales and wines.
The pub has a good atmosphere, furnished traditionally and with a log fire which I would suspect sees a lot of service in this area!
It overlooks water a the lower end of Windermere so has a pleasant outlook

We went in this pub while staying at the newby bridge hotel
prices below average for what is effectivly the hotel bar but none the less a proper pub

Great bar food which was at the top end of the price scale for pub food but is at the highest level for quality therfore represents resonable value .

Staff top class well worth a stop for a drink and food even if you are just passing as you dont need to be staying at the hotel to be made welcome in the huntsman

Dined twice at the Huntsman pub (adjoined to and ran by the Newby Bridge hotel). Nice well priced sunstantial meals both times. Spent more on the 1st night (Mon 29th Oct) as Barman friendly, cleared table and offered desert menu). 2nd night (31st Oct) Barman more interested in chatting to blond employee than clearing our table so we just left. Apologies to the blonde girl for not being able to explain why the ketchup sachet bowl was empty when I requested more, as she had only just filled it apparently. I suspect some diners had used them, but I'm only guessing! Why do so many staff fail to see that without customers thay have no job & display a little care, courtesy & service?

Its not like the food was largely overpriced at all but It just seemed to stumble in a few areas, the soup needed seasoning, the ciabatta’s need slightly dropping in price and the pasta needs to be reduced in size and a reduction in the cream (to be fair they might have gotten away with it if the dish wasn’t so large, wouldn’t have had time to get bored). I doubt we’ll be back as the options were limited for veggies. The menu could do with a bit of a reshuffle to get some more or different options on there, the only side is chips…they could at least offer another side? The huntseman (variety wise) almost feels like they've just given up in spite of what is being offered across the road at The Swan.
