We visited the Wheatsheaf Inn with family for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The sign on the door was not clear that they were serving lunches, but we were welcomed in by the barman. Our two small children were also welcomed.
There was a good menu with traditional pub favourites and light lunches.
The food was all freshly cooked and the portions were generous. The chips were homemade and delicious. I had a baguette with cumberland sausage which I could recommend. There was also a good children's menu.
They stock a good range of traditional real ales.
Overall the service was very welcoming and the food was very good value for money, will be visiting again!

From the outside you wouldn't expect such a nice interior but even more the excellent food on offer.
We chose one meal from the varied set menu and some wild rabbit from the specials.
The rabbit meal was truly special and as good a meal as you could find anywhere. Truly delicious at a very fair price.
Good Jennings beer in a good atmosphere with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We tried the wheatsheaf inn while staying in the area. We were surprised that almost all of the tables were reserved. We know why now as this is a very popular place and for good reason. They did manage to find us a table. We order the rib eye steak and steak pie. The meals were amazing. The portion were large and the food home made and fresh. It is the beast pub meal for a long time. We couldn't fault it. Excellent! Would highly recommend. Although reserving is advisable.

Had a simple lunch but it was fresh, well presented and tasted great, Lovely atmosphere, roaring fire, well priced and really enjoyed it. Planning to try their Christmas meal in December.

Visited the wheatsheaf a few times during the week of my wedding. Extensive menu covers most peoples tastes. The food was plentiful and extremely tasty. A very popular venue meant a wait for a table but the friendly management fitted us in (a party of 6). Comes highly recommended.
