“Stunning views, relaxing hot tub!!”
Reviewed May 26, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Diana was a fabulous host, very welcoming and helpful. The hot tub was to die for especially with a glass of fizz on the go! Local pubs both did great food, the cottage was spacious and had everything we needed. The views are INCREDIBLE and well worth watching the sunset - even better from the tub. Will definitely be back! Thankyou

We spent a few days here relaxing and especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the beautiful views. Would recommend if you want to spend a few days away from it all but also happy to drive about and enjoy the wonders of this gorgeous corner of the country

“This is the place to be!”
Reviewed July 25, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

I booked this property mainly because of the location and view, but when we arrived we could not believe just how spectaculat the 360 degree view was, no photograph could do it justice, it has to be seen, to be believed! The location feels remote, the peace and quiet are idyllic, and yet only a short drive from towns, lakes, and waterfalls! The property is typical country farmhouse, very cosy and comfortable, especially the bed!! Dianne the owner lives on site, and is so warm, welcoming and extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
I have been to many different countries, and have never been interested in going to the same place twice, but now I have found this property, I will definetly be returning asap, the lure of spending yet more nights in the hot tub, watching the sun go down, in what feels like the middle of nowhere, with a glass of wine or two, hearing nothing but the sound of sheep cows owls etc, is my idea of heaven
Thank you Dianne, for a wonderful holiday, see you soon

“Fantastic property, location and holiday”
Reviewed July 23, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The Lorton Valley is stunningly beautiful and you have full advantage to take it in from High Swinside. By day the views from the gardens can be enjoyed from the lawn or ample seating positioned around the gardens - benches, dining tables and chairs and also hammocks. By evening you can watch the sun set over the hills and Solway firth from the fantastic wood-fired hot tub.

The Farmhouse is very well equipped for a family or larger group; facilities for dining, relaxing and sleeping are versatile and of a good standard. We were a 3-generation family group of 8 all staying together in The Farmhouse property, ages 2-73 and we enjoyed it immensely. While being in quite a secluded spot, we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the valley though were able to easily access other more lively locations, such as Maryport, Whinfell, Keswick and Allonby beach.

The icing on the cake was our host, Diana. She delivers faultless hospitality, enthusiasm and a real passion the Lake District. In such a short time on the High Swinside site she has accomplished a great standard of accommodation, matched with real care for our enjoyment. Nothing was too much trouble and we were thrilled to have met her.

“Great find”
Reviewed July 21, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Such a lovely welcoming lady! The three cottages adjoin and look out over a fabulous view. The farmhouse complex has had a lot done and more is planned. It is comfortable and cosy with character. One hot tub with another on the way, what more could you ask! Nothing is too much trouble for Diana, we will return!!

“Wonderful cottage, fab host and great views”

We stayed at High Swinside Cottage with our toddler and grandparents for part of the time for two weeks in July 2016. The cottage was conveniently laid out - with a cloakroom and utility area as well as cosy living room with lovely wooodburner as well as a practical and well stocked kitchen. We were pleased not to be short of any kitchen implements. The master bedroom with en suite is generously proportioned and the two other smaller rooms good for children, or adult guests in the case of the twin. We loved the outside area - the lawns, hot tub and of course the incredible views of the valley below. Diana is a wonderful host, she was very communicative and informative ahead of our arrival and the booking process was simple and easy. She made every effort to accommodate us by suggesting appropriate walks for us to do with our son, as well as providing eggs from her hens. In terms of the location of the property the valley beneath is stunning and access to Cockermouth is easy for shopping (although we got a supermarket delivery to the property), Keswick and Derwentwater are nearby. Then the local hills and lakes are great - Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater (less well known but lots to offer). The only thing Diana couldn't fix was the weather!
