Yet again another amazing few days at Overwater Hall.
There is a very good reason why we (and many others) return to this Hotel time and time again. Set in amazing countryside, a wonderful relaxing atmosphere, where nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff.

Visited this great "get away from it all hotel " this week. What a beautiful building !

Our room - room 4 - was spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. This in fact was true of all the rooms.

We were welcomed and immediately felt at home. Dinner was amazing value for money with a good choice. I found it difficult to choose ... Staff were very attentive but not intrusive. There was a large choice of wines and drinks, including cocktails.

We only stayed one night but will definitely be returning and hopefully staying longer.

We have stayed at Overwater Hall many times over the 25 years it has been under the current ownership (and several times before that). Heading down the wooded drive on arrival is always a mix of pleasant expectation and feeling of 'coming home'. Importantly, consistency and excellence is guaranteed. If you want some glitzy corporate hotel, go somewhere else, otherwise OH is perfect. We have seen the accommodation tastefully upgraded over the years, and have experienced virtually every one of the current bedrooms. Some are bigger than others, but all are different. We have been delighted with all for comfort, attention to detail and well-equipped bathrooms. Dinner at OH is outstanding, provided you want to savour more than run-of-the-mill fare. You could not wish for more pleasant hosts than Angela, Stephen and Adrian, who are supported by first class staff.

The Overwater Hall is in a tremendously scenic and relaxing location.

I have never stayed or eaten at the hotel but have called in for coffee or a drink on a number of occasions whilst walking in the area. I would strongly recommend the home made short bread biscuits which are a delight.

The reception received has always been warm and friendly from the staff and owners.

On a sunny day, sitting in the grounds of the hotel or terrace is incredibly peaceful and relaxing with views of the northern fells only distracted from by the numerous bird life and red squirrels who visit in an abundance.

A lovely location.

We spent 4 nights at this Hotel. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome.
Our large comfortable room was perfect for our stay. We loved the homemade shortbread biscuits, fresh fruit , fresh milk (daily) and the complimentary dog biscuits which Spencer devoured in minutes !
The food is very good but it is " fine dining " , five courses including canapés and some very very good homemade bread. My husband absolutely loved the food especially the fish courses but I at times would have preferred some slightly simpler food (but this is personal preference and no reflection on the chef)
The staff are fantastically friendly and helpful and the house is beautifully maintained . We had some lovely walks around the grounds with the dog although we didn't catch sight of any Red Squirrels we saw a array of birds. It is very peaceful here and really helps you to relax away from the hustle and bustle of daily life .
The hotel is very dog friendly but if you are not so keen on dogs don't worry as it is not like the film set of 101 Dalmatians ! There are dog free areas in the study (great for observing the bird feeders ) and the restaurant.
All in all a lovely holiday.
