We booked a B&B in the West Lakes for a weekend and asked if they knew any nice restaurants around and The Wild Oliver was recommended and I'm so glad they did. We went on a Saturday night and the atmosphere, staff and food was lovely! We shared a cheesy garlic bread to start which had just the right amount of garlic and cheese on top of a thin pizza base so it wasn't too filling. For mains we both had pizzas and they were cooked to perfection with a good amount of toppings and was really filling. We had to take a couple of pieces home with us as we couldn't fit it all in. There's lots of different toppings to choose from. I noticed other people in the restaurant had pasta dishes and they all looked really good sized portions. They do cute mini bottles of Prosecco too for a great price! Would definitely visit here again when we go back to the Lakes next year.

We ate here on a Sunday evening whilst stopping at the West Lakes hotel.
For starters the restaurant was just a short walk from the hotel so no worries driving. We both enjoyed pizza made in the wood fired oven, they were well made with just the right amount of topping and cooked to perfection. The garlic bread was home made and the best I've tasted in a long time.
They have a good wine list but we opted to wash it down with the draft Peroni. All told 2 pizza's, garlic bread, deserts and drinks for just under £40 was excelent value.
If we're in the area again we'll certainly be back.

Enjoyed a taste of Italy in Gosforth, nice simple tasty food, pleasant staff and great surroundings.
Very rustic and friendly, very handy for playing field behind the restaurant, where we enjoyed the last of the evening sun with a drink after dinner.

Lovely, relaxed meal with family. Fantastic location for the restaurant with the local play park just outside the back gate. No problem entertaining the kids allowing other diners top have peace and quiet and mums and dads to relax. Starters and mains were great. The kids really enjoyed theirs. The grown ups also really enjoyed their meal. Can't comment on the grown up desserts as we were stuffed!
