We have just returned from our holiday at Rose Cottage. The cottage is in a great location and is fully equipped with all you need. This was our first holiday with Kira our dog and it was perfect not only a great size garden but access to 'Giggle Alley' which she really enjoyed. Great responce from Phil who got back really fast and was really helpful with enquirys. Also there was a great welcome pack and even a birthday card and present waiting for me. All in all a great place to stay and we hope to return .
Beds very comfortable.
BUT, where was the second bathroom? Outside loo not a bathroom!
Lack of 2nd as advertised!!!!!
Cooker not an Aga and didn’t work as an Aga. Unpredictable for cooking meals.
Garden very steep with lots of uneven stone steps and not secure for our dog.
Garden also unsuitable for small children.
Lovely cottage to spend time but as we were blessed with warm sunny weather for the whole week, we only returned to Rose Cottage late afternoon or evening, the perfect place to relax in the quiet garden. The narrow gauge railway station of Irton Road is a short walk down the hill with regular service running from Dalegarth to Ravenglass on the coast. Muncaster Castle, not far from Ravenglass is a fascinating place to visit and one could spend a whole day walking the gardens. Will definitely be back for more of the same. Thanks Phillip.
Rose Cottage is a perfect location for a walking holiday. My husband and I and our two daughters aged 9 and 11 had a truly fabulous time. This was their first introduction to the Lake District and they were truly blown away. This was their first time staying in a cottage too, so really enjoyed the experience. It was clean warm and cosy for our arrival which was much appreciated as it had taken us 10 hours to reach the location. So we were a tad tired. The Owner had very kindly set us up with a food starter package and for that we were truly grateful. The cottage is extremely well equipped. Despite the weather not being particularly kind we did manage a number of walks. The owner was quick to respond to any queries that I had and provided thorough information about the cottage and the area. We did eat at the Bowers House Inn twice and loved both meals.
Great cottage in a lovely quiet location with lots to do nearby. Owners were very organised in getting relevant info to us and very helpful.
We had a lovely time at Rose Cottage. Perfectly situated for the lakes and the coast. Amazingly well equipped Kitchen, comfy beds, a supply of books and games for down time. I cooked a roast dinner on the cooker. It was my birthday, a card, wine and chocolates were part of the welcome pack. Of course we would stay again.
We stayed at Rose Cottage over the New Year period and had a wonderful stay. The cottage is in a wonderful position in a beautiful, unspoilt part of the Lake District. When we arrived we had a wonderful welcome hamper, which was really appreciated and the Christmas tree was also a lovely touch. The information received and correspondence from the owner was brilliant and they were instantly on hand with any queries. We will definitely come back to Rose Cottage, hopefully in the summer months, so we can fully appreciate the beautiful gardens. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
