“Could Bradley Wiggins climb this?”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

A great drive down the Eskdale Valley with the steep climb(some parts at 30%) to the top - fantastic views towards the sea, then you drop down the other side to Wrynose Bottom, wild and isolated. Then you climb up again (again 30% at times) over the Wrynose Pass before going down the other side. From here the 25% climbs into the Langdales feel positively mild. Not to be missed as long as you are a comptent driver!

“Not for the faint of heart”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

The road to and from this pass is very narrow and VERY steep. It's a beautiful drive and a great way to get into the mountains but the drop-offs next to the road are considerable and the road is challenging.

“Fantastic drive throught magnificent scenery”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

The road linking Little Langdale to Eskdale passes through first the Wrynose and then the Hardknott passes. Although the drive is undoubtably challenging for some drivers, it is something not to be missed (whatever the weather). There are plenty of passing places so unless there is a lot of traffic it shouldn't be a problem. The views are, of course, stunning and a photographers delight. We travelled after heavy rain falls and the sound of running water was everywhere!
A 'must do' in the Lakes!

“FAB!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We took advantage of the break in weather and did the Wrynose Pass-Hardnott Pass 2 wks ago while holidaying in the Lake District.

Stunning scenery and views at every turns. Yes, there are many hairpin turns and its STEEP - 1 in 3! Definitely not for the faint hearted or inexperienced drivers, and should only do it on a nice day. My companion was in his element; he was joyous.

We drove onto Holmrook in Eskdale and lunched at the Bower House Inn. Nice big car park. Food was tasty and came in big portions. Very friendly staff. We would recommend this place for lunch/drinks after doing this drive.

Rollercoaster in your own car. Highly recommended. Keep you eyes closed if you scared of heights. Very picturesque when you do open your eyes though.
