“Wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed July 13, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Lovely clean and fully equipped lodge set in beautiful surroundings, plenty of walks on the doorstep.

Everywhere is dog friendly, not just lip-service as is so often found.

Total relaxation!

We had a wonderful stay here with our dog,Gizmo.. the lodge is a home from home and immaculately clean, everything you need in the lodge. A beautiful part of the lake district, in a prime position with walks from the door. Very friendly owner came over for a chat too. We will definitely be back and will tell all how nice the place is. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Xx

Lovely lodge beautiful area, plenty of walks on the doorstep. Everywhere is dog friendly. A still unspoilt area of the Lake District which adds to its charm, locals very friendly and helpful. WiFi in lodge was a bonus and worked well for us.
We hope to return next year

Shared a lodge with friends, it was well equipped, well furnished and extremely clean, spacious and warm. There was an ample supply of wood for the wood burning fire. The owners supplied a mobile phone for your use, the location is quiet and safe, there is a games room on site and you have the use of a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer if so required. Close to amenities village shop, within walking distance, and stunning walks. Excellent value.

“Wonderful Lodges”

Visited Fisherground Lodges (not campsite) - August 2016 for a week's stay,.

We stayed in Woodbank Lodge, idyllic setting next to a brook. We could hear the water running outside of the window when in bed - it was very tranquil. We loved the rafting pond. The lodge was very clean except for a damp smell (from a wet carpet) in one of the bedrooms when we arrived - the previous occupants had been messy so the owners had to clean the carpet and it took three days to dry out! We would have given 5/5 other than this minor negative. Everything else about the lodge was great; it was well-equipped and very comfortable beds, soft bedding. Excellent barn with table tennis which we played almost every night.

It was in a lovely location (Eskdale Green) - plenty of walks and close to a nearby pub (King George IV - 5-minute walk) for food and drink. Visited Muncaster Castle (lovely owls) and we walked to Boot and had a meal there. We also walked to a local waterfall which was wonderful and did wild swimming in a local river at Thornton Bridge (also walkable distance). Beautiful Esk Trail walk along the river Esk (my son also ran up this path in the morning). Also not too far from Waswater and Scafell Pike.

In spite of the wet weather (expected in the Lake District), we thoroughly enjoyed it and still did lots of outdoor pursuits.

A wonderful exciting week
Just back from my favourite place and cannot wait to return next year. The location is excellent for anyone seeking peace and quiet, but with facilities not far away. Beautiful valley and hill walks accessible without the need for using the car. Driving along the valley should be avoided as too many others on the narrow valley road.
The lodge is ample for 6 people and a dog and has lovely views all round. A few extra shelves would be useful as would an extra coffee table in the sitting area. The kitchen was well- equipped and I was surprised to see washing up stuff there, including a tea towel. Loo rolls also provided. I found the lighting dim for reading in the evening.
Unlike previous visits, excellent EE phone signal and Internet.
My Grandkids loved the games room and the younger one loved the raft on the pond. A safe site for young children as plenty of space to play within site of the lodges.

2 freak floods hit the valley in the first 3 days. The water subsided as quickly as it rose and the sun shone the rest of the week. But wellies or sandals for paddling were required. It added to the fun of our holiday.

Further afield - the coast and beaches at Seascale and St Bees are well worth a visit. The Little Ratty and Ravenglass are both unique and Whitehaven is interesting with its Georgian buildings and mining history.

So much to do and see for those of us who love to be in the midst of this lovely landscape.
Fisherground is definitely the best spot in Eskdale.

Definitely 10/10
