I booked my "walking with wolves" experience over the phone and drove over to Ayside to be met by Dee Ashman. The 2 wolf hybrids (Maska and Kajika) were loaded into the rear of the 4x4 and off we went to a private woodland walk. The wolves were leashed on exiting the pickup and off we went on our wolf experience. Dee was extremely knowledgeable about her subjects and you immediately had respect for them, as each weighed in at over 50+ kg and you could feel the immense strength as they took us for a walk through the wood. One was permitted off the leash for a short spell and went a short distance ahead of us. To finish the walk - we were shown first hand the familiar wolf call, as Dee set about emulating the call of the wild, and both wolves tipped their heads back and howled for all they were worth. The experience lasts for an hour and the time just flew by. Maximum of 4 people allowed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am so glad I did it. The "walking with wolves" experience costs £85 but there are also Eagle experience days, experience days for different types of hawk/owl/falcon, hawk walks, a predator experience (milk snakes/tarantula) and a wolf and fox encounter.

This is a 'zoo' but not anything liked you've experienced before. Small groups of 4 with the lead person and the animals and the natural environment - heaven! You need to book and its not for casual visitors and you'll soon see why - this is essential to gain the closest experience to a natural experience you'll ever have.
It was difficult to chose the experience - I have a daughter who's fascinated by animals, their behaviours and natural habitats so choosing between walking with wolves and flying birds of prey was a difficult one. You can't do it all in one day even though you might want to.
We walked with the wolves and I mean that's exactly what we did followed by flying a Harris Hawk!
A small group of 4 meant you got the realistic experience and the information given about the background to animals behaviour, changing habitat etc was was first class keeping you interested and engaged throughout.
We can't wait to visit again to gain another lasting memory.
