Whether walking, passing thorough by car or cycle there is something for everyone here.
The Priory, The Races, lots of bespoke village shops and if you can afford it L'Enclume restaurant. If you can't there are pubs and bistros offering refreshments at affordable prices.
A very picturesque pleasant pace to visit if in the area.( The cobbled areas can cause a problem for people with mobility problems ) We parked in the street at the side of the Priory , for free ( very limited) - bit the race course area has parking and refreshment facilities.

This ancient church in Cartmel, a small village in Cumbria, dates (in parts) from the 1100's. It reeks history -- even though it is a living church. The tombstones are well preserved, especially inside the church, and are clearly readable back to the early 1600s. There's some good stained glass windows, which have been "rebuilt" over the years. Priory staff suggested that some of the original windows had now ended up in other churches many miles away ! The grounds were beautifully maintained -- covered in daffodils -- and with a small creek babbling peaceably behind the church. Excellent place for visit, and only a 2 minute walk from the cafes, coffee shops and the cheese shop in the village.

Even though I've lived in the area for 20 years and visited all my life I can still find new things in The Priory. Not too keen on the new "Priory Shop", it's all a bit modern for the setting.
When ever you og, whether for a service or just to visit the trip is worth it.
