We enjoyed a four-night stay with friends - three couples in total. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who all worked hard to make our time here thoroughly enjoyable. The food was memorable and offered good value for money.

It's a very old building, so expect creaky floorboards - and the lack of a modern ventilation system means that sometimes smells from the kitchen waft upstairs. But this is being picky - the building is beautiful and full of character, so enjoy it! We're already thinking about a return visit.

Room tip: we had room 12, which was quite spacious and had a bath with shower over. There were also lovely views over the fields to Cartmel. Only downside was the boiler flue, which exited just outside our window and was rather noisy. One couple in our party had room nine and reported that it was smaller and did not have the views.

The hotel was lovely, but the food in the restaurant was some of the best I have tasted for a long time (at very reasonable prices). We needed somewhere to break the journey to the Western lakes and this was a very pleasant surprise.

My wife and I stayed at Aynsome Manor 27th -30th June. The owners made us feel very welcome indeed and could not have been more helpful and friendly. The staff were all excellent in every respect and the service second to none. Breakfast's were first class and the dining experience and standard and choice of meals could not have been better.
We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this hotel.
Well done the Varley's and team.

We returned to the Aynsome Manor Hotel for our third visit. We are now quite elderly (!) and it is so good to find a hotel with such a homely, caring attitude. The food is quite excellent, and we both put on a few pounds during our stay. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and considerate, and we certainly hope we will still be around to go again next year! Even though the weather left a little to be desired, there is plenty to do in the vicinity, and we came home with some sticky toffee pudding and fudge from Cartmel to prolong the holiday feeling.

Room Tip: We prefer the first floor front rooms because they have the best views, and are easily accessible be...

We stayed at Aynsome manor for two nights 5th to 7th June and can't rate this hotel highly enough.
Set in stunning surroundings this hotel offered everything we needed - proximity to Windermere, comfortable accommodation, great food and dog friendly.
We stayed in room 14 which is in the annex. The bedroom was comfortable with an ensuite with both bath and shower - perfect after a long day walking.
We had dinner on the first night which was faultless. Absolutely delicious, really friendly staff in a beautiful dining room. Breakfast on both mornings was just as good and really set you up for the day. Meal services run like clockwork as the staff are obviously very experienced but we didn't feel rushed at any point.
We will definitely return in the future as we had an excellent experience from start to finish!

Room Tip: Room 14 was excellent. Dog friendly and very quiet. We had a great nights sleep.

Excellent stopping off point when travelling N or S. Genuinely friendly staff and clean rooms if a little on the small side. Meals can be inconsistent but breakfasts are excellent. Terrific value for money.

Room Tip: Check whether the end suite is a shower or bath. Also the size of the bed.
