If you like food then you should make a trio to Cartmel. The food at L'enclume and Rogan and Co is wonderful, and if you like your food and want a treat you should splash out. The village is very pretty and the a visit to the Priory is a must. This is the perfect location for a relaxing weekend away. The food and accommodation are relaxing, even though the food is at the top of what is available in the UK. If you've got time, then pop into the Diary and Brewery. And if you feel like something a bit different pop to the barbers for a pre-dinner wet shave.

It quite literally was a wonderful experience and certainly delivered the WoW factor. We opened our envelope with our menu in, but only to reveal the description of the course we were presented with at that time. A delightful end to a fabulous weekend in Cartmel for my partners 40th birthday. A big thank to the Manageress for the complementary cheese course and coffee due to our celebrations. Thanks Jo and David x

Shhhhhh please don't tell anyone - but we've just had the most wonderful experience staying at L'enclume House and eating there. We want to ensure there is space for us to go back, so keep this on the downlow. Read GavConnolly's review as he has said it all.

The two day package is wonderfully great value.. We'd been planning a anniversary trip since seeing Simon Rogan on the tele. We were nervous as we'd really built up our expectations but we were not disappointed. The Bradshaw room was comfy, smart and large! Dinner at L'enclume lived up to it's 2* status and the service was exceptional. I seriously think this is one of the best meals I've ever had; innovative, experimental, fun, tasty, exciting, filling and all round delicious. Well done Simon Rogan, you've got style without being pretentious which often I find restuarants become with such accolades. Nestled quaintly in Cartmel, adds to the alure of the whole vibe, it's a lovely village and I'd thoroughly recommend everyone to experience it.

Room Tip: Bradshaw Room was comfy and large although the conversion of this old cottage means you can hear the...

We had a weekend stay at L'enclume which was lovely. We had gone there to eat at L'enclume and we also had a meal at Rogan & Co in the village.

The rooms had charm. We were in Room 3 which is next to the restaurant. If you don't like hearing a bit of noise from the restaurant then this room is not suitable but it did not bother us.

Our room was on a slope, which added to the charm and my one complaint would be it was baking hot and so kept the window open the whole time. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and was not too heavy, which was important after our amazing meals out.

The other bit I did not get from previous reviews was that the hotel is split location, by about 100m. Didn't bother us but if it had been raining then an umbrella would definitely be needed.

Loads of places to stay in Cartmel but I did like the charm of our room

I'm not a huge fan of all this 'modern text speak' but I thought I'd get your attention! Did it work? My wife & I stayed for one night in L'Enclume Restaurant with rooms. We're big fans of Great British Menu and Simon Rogan and we'd been planning this trip for months so our fingers were crossed not to be disappointed. Man alive! We needn't have worried. Cartmel is an idyllic one-village marketing machine for the Lake District and is complimented by Mr. Rogan's empire. We arrived slightly late, still in our hill walking gear (nice views from Scaffel Pike by the way) and headed straight to the restaurant to try and delay our table a little so we could get showered and look less like Wurzel Gummidge (remember him?). The staff were very helpful and relaxed. We were shown to our stunning room right next to the restaurant and left to settle in. The decor is immaculate with the furniture all being carefully selected (a theme for team Rogan) antique-chic. The towels were fluffier that a huge ball of fluff that just graduated from the University of Fluffiness with honours. My wife loved the hand crafted soap, but, being Man, I cannot comment on such matters (but towels are fair game?). After freshening up and noting, with considerable admiration, the proper coffee and cafetiere (well done U.K! Finally catching up with the States) we made our way (about 10 paces) to the stunning restaurant. There's lots of designer touches throughout and someone has spent many hours putting this place together. We were seated and opened our envelope to reveal the 17 (yes, really) course tasting menu. Our overall favourite was 'chicken & squid' which is, of course, infinitely more elaborate than the name suggests. The fantastic staff talk you through each course with genuine passion and pride in their restaurant. The wine was reasonably priced and our Sommelier guided us admirably through the meal with the right colour at the right time. I was especially impressed with the selection of English Sparkling wines on the menu, rivaling anything that the Champagne region can throw past the white cliffs of Dover. After a wonderful meal and a great night's sleep on pillows that were clearly related to the towels, we enjoyed a wonderful, traditional breakfast, cooked impeccably before our departure. On our way to pay the bill we even seen the great man himself, in true British fashion, we simply managed a 'good morning' instead of asking him to autograph the towel I stole (kidding!) We went to Simon Rogan's fine establishment hoping to be blown away by new flavours, textures and combinations, and that, I'm delighted to say, is exactly what happened.

Room Tip: They're all good I'm sure.

We have stayed & eaten at L'enclume before but neglected to write a review. We just stayed for the 2 night package and the whole experience was incredible in every aspect. The quality of food at L'enclume surpasses the 2 star rating and is easily the best food I have ever eaten. Service is very attentive but not over-bearing whilst the accommodation is classy yet cosy. Rogan & co was fabulous also - different style to the main restaurant but still delicious. We were allowed to go round the farm where they produce their own veg, herbs, etc and that was truly inspirational. Thanks to Rachel, Mark & Kamila for your time....Carmel village is a gorgeous gem with a beautiful priory.... We will definitely be back, all hail lord Rogan!
