“Stunning location”
Reviewed September 25, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This is one of the nicest rental we have stayed in, the views are amazing from every room and we were lucky with the weather so made the most of the garden and BBQ. Slight issue with deposit

Thank you for your review although we are very disappointed that even though you loved the house, the location and every aspect of your stay at Cartmel Hill you have only given us 3 out of 5.

This is the 1st time this stunning house has had a rating lower than 5 out of 5.

It is clear that you have given us a low rating because you are disappointed that we charged you £20 for the theft of a cushion.
We emailed you and politely asked if the cushion had been taken home ‘accidentally’ but as it has not been returned to us we have had to charge for the item.

Wow!
What a fantastic cottage.
scenery is beautifull.
The pictures on the internet don't do it justice.High end finishes throughout the cottage and can't wait to return. Had a fantastic time. The whole process was easy and professional from the owner.
Can't praise them enough, have allready recommended the cottage to family and friends.

“Fantastic house, fantastic facilities, great position.”
Reviewed September 5, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We have just come back from a week at this house. It's extremely well finished and the kitchen is well stocked with every utensil and pans etc that you could imagine. The bedrooms are large and the en-suites finished to a very high standard. The views from the garden make for a great bbq location as well.

The property manager, Simon, was very helpful and went beyond what you would expect to ensure that everything was perfect for us, which it was.

We will definitely be back!

“Probably the Best Holiday Cottage we have stayed in!”

In summary a fantastic property beautifully decorated and appointed. If you love walking and good food/drink you will be in heaven. Dogs are welcome too!
We were fortunate to be one of the first guests in this fabulous property located just outside of Cartmel. We had been looking for a cottage that would accommodate our family of 4 and our dog. Finding cottages that allow dogs and midweek stays are like hens teeth. This is not a cottage it is a mansion and ticked all the boxes. The website is very informative, the communications and payment were very good and exactly how it should be. Simon is very knowledgeable about the area and sends through good information and even suggestions for local walks.
The property itself is located just outside Cartmel, directions to it were very easy to follow. It looks stunning all the way up the gravelled drive (bumpy in places) and we couldn’t stop smiling as we parked. The house is huge and is on many levels with two sets of stairs. Most of the living is upstairs with a generous well stocked kitchen (we almost felt guilty using the brand new stuff) and a living room with beautiful views across Morecambe bay towards Heysham and beyond. We all squabbled for prime position in the large swivel chair (a favourite for us all). Two of the 4 bedrooms (a fifth is available for larger groups) are located upstairs. The master bedroom is beautiful with a massive ensuite, exposed beams and views across the valley. Downstairs is an equally large main bedroom again with ensuite, almost spoilt for choice! There is also a playroom with a keyboard and another TV very useful if, like our family, there is a difference in TV watching habits. The house WiFi is a little limited in range and may require relocation if desired.
The decor and materials used are of very high quality, the beds very comfortable and the house was very cosy.
Outside the enclosed garden (to keep dogs on the inside!) is great for lazing and evening drinks whilst the sun drops below the horizon.
From the house there are numerous easy walks, best to come armed with OS explorer map, OL7, if you wish to enjoy the area and not get too lost. Dropping down the drive there are good walks to Holker hall, and to Cartmel. The easiest is via Walton Hall Farm along a bridleway, takes 30 minutes to get into Cartmel. It avoids drinking and driving, especially with such good pubs in the village. It is worth bringing a torch for the return journey. Up the drive there are great walks. One of these is described in the house details, and leads to How Barrow with great views across the Leven estuary.
The house comes with great suggestions for eating in the area we found the best pub grub was at the Cavendish Arms. The main pubs (Royal Oak & Kings Arms) seem to suffer from short staffing and the wait was a little excessive. Of course no trip to Cartmel would be complete without a trip to L’Enclume or Rogan & Company (we were not disappointed).
There are some great local shops (Cartmel Cheese & Bread and Unsworth Brewery). We travelled to Booths in Ulverston for general food items, great choice/quality albeit a little expensive.
All the properties on the Holidaycottagescumbria website look equally well appointed and we would certainly look forward to staying here again. Top marks!

Hi Simon and family. Thank you for your wonderful review.
I’m delighted that the 4 of you thoroughly enjoyed your stay at Cartmel Hill and also enjoyed the village and the local area too.
I look forward to welcoming you back to 1 of our lovely properties.
Note about the Wi-Fi - we have relocated the router now and the range is much better across both levels of the house and out into the garden.
