Description: We have slightly Quirky Opening Times for the Tea Garden between mid May and end of September - it's important you read these below so you don't arrive to find us closed. We serve Aga made cakes, cream teas, home made cordials and jams, hot mugs tea, lovely milkshakes, hot chocolate, real coffee, lovely soups, pastas and puds. We're not posh - just a simple family Tea Garden with lovely views across to Greystoke Castle, 2 friendly cats and some hens. Please don't expect a frilly warm tea room - we have shelter in the form of unheated gazebos and the Cyclists barn (which may contain dust!) - so please remember to bring a coat if it's chilly. Everyone is welcome (even non cyclists, well trained children* and dogs) on Fridays 12-6pm and Saturdays 10-6pm and at least the 2nd Sunday of the month 10-6pm but often every Sunday midsummer. Please remember we have no parking - we ask people to walk from the village c/park 350 yds or parking on roadside recess opposite Howard Park 150yds. In accordance with our local Planning Consent . . . Cyclists arriving on bikes are welcome everyday in season between 10AM and 6PM . We have free juice for your water bottles (to drink off site), bike oil, track pumps and a few spares - plus hot water bottles and blankets which seem to work well! Food wise (the very least we can give you is tea and cakes and if we can (hopefully nearly always) we will rustle up some lovely home cooked food for you from the menu. We make our living from running over 150 courses a year in Art , Beekeeping, Heritage and Country Craft , Cookery, bike maintenance and Textile courses Just occasionally over lunchtimes we may have to ask you to wait for 10 minutes if the courses students have just entered the kitchen for lunch . Equally for those arriving after lunch on a workshop day there are often extra puddings on the menu - lemon meringue roulades or frangipanis. Workshop lunches are usually served between 1 and 2pm . Thank you for your understanding.

If you want a teatime stop before sliding down to Penrith, this place is an absolute gem. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely Annie. It is best to ring her if you have a group but enjoy the garden and Annie's company. A genuine highlight of a fabulous cycle trip

“great cakes and a warm welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2014

Sat outside in the garden with 17 fellow cyclists. Plenty of space to all sit together. Made to feel very welcome and encouraged to wander around the interesting garden. Fantastic selection of cakes. Very cyclist friendly - top up drinks bottles etc

“FANTASTIC place to stop on C2C cycle ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

We stopped here on our first day of a two day cycle ride from Whitehaven to Sunderland. The heavens had opened on us for two hours before we arrived here, so were pretty wet, cold and dejected. By the time we left we were ready to conquer the world.

As soon as we arrived we were met with towels to dry ourselves, blankets to get warm and a hot water bottle, which was the best greeting I have ever had! The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for you, headed up by the owner Annie, who never stopped ensuring all was going well.

The home cooked food and drink is excellent, it made us wonder whether we should stay and do the C2C in three days instead of two. Try the Tiffin cake it's to die for.

All in all a fantastic place to stop with or without a bike. Worth a detour if you are near Greystoke.

“The best stop on our C2C adventure, highly recommend the Greystoke Cycle Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We stopped here on the C2C a few weeks ago - amazing food and lovely garden. The staff were great and even the cats and hens were friendly!

We thought was empty as no one was in the front garden, but after we went round the back we found a much bigger garden with great views of Greystoke Castle and packed with cyclists. An absolute must stop for the C2C.

Its great to know you enjoyed your stop here at the Cycle Cafe - and yes as you say - often it can look empty at the front from the approach road but the property is quite deceptive and sometime people don't realise there s a massive garden at the back - along with that famous view of Greystoke Castle too.

We're glad you decided to stop here and thanks again for your comments- hopefully we'll see you again another day.
