Fox & Hounds Inn

Two weeks ago i stayed at the Fox and Hounds at Ennerdale bridge, we camped, and although there was not any showers Martin who is the Pub Manager was fantastic, he let us use his bathroom so we could take a shower, also supplied us with clean towels, the food in the pub was really nice and not to expencive, the Fox and Hounds also served a good sellection of real ales, which were supplied by a local micro brewery (Ennerdale Brewery), the pub also has rooms to stay in, i would recomend a stop at the Fox and Hounds.

Our arrival after the first day of the C to C could not have involved a better welcome. We were given a table, a selection of sandwiches, tea, and a range of delicious cakes. We talked to two of the hosts, Peter and Martin for some time, who were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and spacious and the place was obviously popular with the locals. The rooms were not quiet, as they were above the bar area , although there was a large gathering of 50+ people downstairs at the time, so this was excusable. A good breakfast and packed lunch, so overall a very enjoyable stay. Evening meals are also served.

The room was very spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious and very much appreciated after a long days walking. Martin was a real character and went out of his way to make the stay enjoyable. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The Fox and Hounds Inn was a fun way to end our first day of walking. We met with other walkers and towns people over supper in the cozy pub. The spirit of community was great and all of Ennerdale Bridge should be proud of The Fox and Hounds! The food was delicious and yes the service was a little disorganized but it was a relaxing end of day. Our room was simple but comfy. Breakfast with Martin as our host was both delicious and entertaining with lots of helpful tips for the day ahead. All in all a great place to stay and get the flavour of the village.

We hit this pub on a busy Saturday night - to be honest the food timing was very slow but when it came was excellent. Good choice of beers. A 'community pub' which serves both the locals and enjoys the visitors. Reviews from 2011 onwards reflect the new community ownership and improvements. lots of life, loads of people and an authentic evening. Recommended.

We came upon the Fox and Hounds Inn after an exhausting 1st Day on our Coast to Coast trip. The food was fabulous and the ale was most welcome! What we didnt bank on was Martin; an absolute diamond in the heart of Ennerdale Bridge. He was welcoming and chatty and gave us his time without feeling as though we were interupting him. We set out on our next leg of our journey only for me to damage my knee and we found ourselves back at the Fox and Hounds Inn (many thanks to Larry!!) and our trip abandoned. Martin and his staff were fabulous! Nothing was too much and they were always friendly. We decided to camp to give my knee a rest and Martin graciously offered us a shower whenever we wanted, fresh water, trips and general chat. We even ended up staying at Martin's house whilst we waited to go home. Nothing was too much for Martin and his staff; infact, the whole community! This is a fabulous place with fabulous food and fabulous ales and we would HIGHLY recommend you visit - and even go back, like we have!

Room Tip: We didnt have a room, but we did camp and fresh water and a shower was always available and grateful...

A very warm welcome awaited me on arriaval. The staff are all very friendly and the food was out of this world. Everyone was more than helpful giving information on the area and the best places for site seeing. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the information about the next leg of the coast to coast invaluable. Evening in the bar was full of entertainment and that was just from the bar tender. There are many locally produced beers to try and my favourite was the Blonde. Highly recomend this place to stay if doing the coast to coast or if just need a camp site for the night. If you are holidaying in the area, do stop here for a meal whether for lunch or dinner as the food is very good.
