The Rooms and food are excellent value and staff are friendly and helpful. The location is good for walking ie the coast to coast trail passes close to the hotel. Quiet location so expect a good night's sleep

The hotel was a good base for my daughter, 9 year old grandson and I but we were the only 3 in the hotel each breakfast so do not think anyone else was staying. Hotel was clean and warm but VERY run down - broken floor tile in bathroom, Sellotape holding wash basin mirror and mould round bath. Breakfast were basic but good - only ate dinner on first night which was ok'ish - staff chatty and helpful - hotel was fine for our purposes but needs a major update,

Room tip: good value

As previous reviewers have said, Grove Court is nothing special but a step up on your typical budget-chain hotel. Rooms are fine and well-sized, breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very nice (apparently the black pudding was particularly good) and staff are friendly and helpful. Yes - a bit of a freshen-up inside wouldn't go amiss, but as a base for Ennerdale and Wasdale in particular it's ideal.

Room tip: Rooms 13 & 14 faced the front of the hotel, so had a view towards Dent Fell. Rooms at the back (11 & 12) had less of a view.

This hotel is a converted school which could be quite a quirky place if it were to be re vamped. The rooms are very basic and dated.
The bar area seems clean and more updated. The staff are friendly and polite and the meals served are plentiful and of good quality.
This hotel is ok for a one night stay over.
We had been mountain climbing so all we needed was a hot shower and somewhere to get our heads down so this place fitted what we needed.
Rooms are paper thin and we could hear next doors tv and shower being run.
Tea and coffee supplied in the room also toiletries in the bathroom. A hairdryer is also provided.
