Fantastic food and brilliant atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, open fire added to the character of the place. The food was freshly cooked and obviously homemade. Could not fault it. Menu has a great variety to suit all tastes ( best fajitas ever), prices fair and portions good.

This place is still worth visiting but needs to up its game on food and decor. The prices have crept up although the food on a recent experience has not kept pace.
The food needs to be loved a little more. The chefs plate is only as good as his last one so more attention to detail please. The (thick) chips were nicely cut but could have done with slightly more cooking time as they were a little raw in the middle.
The Sirloin came with a few cherry tomatoes (nice) but the other vegetables - a couple of mushrooms and dreadful onion rings were a disappointment. Surely this menu needs tweaking with seasonal vegetables or say broccoli, sweetcorn, spinach or asparagus and ditching the horrible and cheap onion rings. - This is not a burger menu at £17 after all...
The interior decor could use a neutral matt re-emulsion and some careful cleaning although the atmosphere remains cosy and moody.- Nice.
The bar staff are very friendly and are an asset to the pub. Keep your eyes on the ball though guys as your Lowswater (real ale) was just on the turn at the last visit.
If the new owner reads this (changed hands very recently) then please take these comments in a positive manner. Dont just leave the staff to mop up for you. It is your business and you need to be aspiration and to drive or at least maintain previous standards.

Excellent food, well cooked, very tasty and well presented.
But guys, PLEASE get a an extractor fan in the kitchen, the smoke coming through is choking.
And very slow service last night.
Will still go back, but please improve the place.

This has been my local for quite a while and I love it.

The food is lovely, good value for money. The service is superb.
Definately a unique wee pub a great stop off if your doing the coast to coast
