“Perfect location, perfect cottage”
Reviewed August 7, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We visited the lakes for a wedding and wanted somewhere in the Borrowdale valley close to the church. We also wanted comfort due to being quite pregnant at the time. This cottage was an absolute perfect find, perfect location for the wedding but also a perfect location all round. Great views of Derwentwater and catbells, great access to walks, lake side park, close to Keswick and all main routes to explore further afield. The cottage was perfectly equipped, beautiful inside, and the beds were lovely and comfortable, the rooms were great. We had quite a mix of weather, wind, rain and sun, resulting in good use of the washing machine and tumble dryer and outside line. The owners have made good instructions available so that it is clear how to use everything. Just lovely, we will be going back.

“Would wholeheartedly recommend”
Reviewed August 4, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Gorgeous cottage in Borrowdale. Very comfortable and utterly spotless; furnished, equipped and decorated to a very high standard. Wonderful views from most windows and a lovely little courtyard garden at the back. Very conveniently situated for activities around Derwentwater; also Honister/Buttermere/Ullswater etc. We will definitely be returning and I've already recommended it to friends and family.

We had an wonderful week in Borrowdale. The Smithy is very comfortable and very well equipped. Can't really find anything to complain about; perhaps access/egress for the car not ideal but a very minor point. We would recommend the Smithy to anyone planning a walking holiday or just a relaxing time in Borrowdale. We will be back!

Liked best: Location. Character of the house, convenience for walking .
Liked least: Parking for only one car (very minor point that was in clearly made in the details so not a real problem)

“Perfect home from home in a stunning location”
Reviewed April 15, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This is a perfect home from home, a very well equipped cottage which has clearly been finished with a lot of thought and to a very high standard.
Without doubt the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in.

Very well located for Keswick and the surrounding hills, we have taken advantage of the excellent bus service which passes the cottage and the steamer to travel into Keswick.

The Lodore just down the road does lovely afternoon teas if you fancy a treat and we've also eaten at Lucas Italian in Keswick which does excellent gluten free food.

We are looking forward to returning next year.

“Fab find”
Reviewed April 13, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

What a delight this cottage was everything you could wish for and more. Very well equipped and decorated to a high standard the log burner was great and certainly gave a warm cosy atmosphere to the cottage. Beds were very comfortable had no problem sleeping. A fantastic spot in the heart of Borrowdale you can walk from the front door take a boat across the Lake from Ladore a short walk from the cottage or catch a bus. There are two great restaurants to eat from near by (walking distance) highly recommend although no need to cooking facilities in cottage fab and a small separate dinning room to boot. All in all a superb cottage would highly recommend a holiday here.
