We stay here at least twice each year. We have never stayed at a better place. Not only are the owners friendly and considerate but the guest house is also of high quality and the setting is beautiful.

My wife and I with our son and a friend stayed at the cottage in March 2012, having chosen Borrowdale as a particularly impressive and beautiful part of the Lake District. It happened that Leathes Cottage was the first we contacted when making a booking, and what a stroke of luck! Sue and her husband made us so welcome, with a nice tea when we arrived and the use of a sitting room whenever we wanted. Both bedroom suites overlooked fields occupied by dozens of cute black faced lambs. The breakfasts offered a very wide choice and on the day we left Sue had noted that we'd particularly enjoyed one of the jpreserves and presented a new jar to us! The rooms were very comfortable, and I just wonder how good the other four places must be if this is only the 5th in the rankings! We enjoyed the walks, of course, and they gave us plenty of helpful advice. A lovely Christian household with a wealth of interesting books to read if the weather is bad!

Room Tip: The two rooms we had were excellent, but the one with the separate bathroom was just a bit roomier.

Great welcome back from Sue & Dave. We were here last spring walking, this time swimming in very cold Lake District Lakes. So, the warm cottage, great room, cosy beds, fabulous brekky, lovely welcome from our hosts were just what we needed. Suitably fortified, that day we swam Thirlmere, Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite and Ullswater. Can't wait to back next year.

Our stay here was very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and everything was crisp and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was equal to that in many a 5 star hotel, with delicious home made bread rolls ,home made preserves etc.. Very attractive views from all windows, and many lovely walks in the vicinity. Although there is a minor road going to the front of the b and b, we experienced no traffic noise - in fact we saw very little traffic on it..

One of the best B&B's I' ve ever stayed in, if not the best. A lovely place in a lovely setting run by lovely people. We were made to feel welcome right from our arrival, when we were served tea in the guest's sitting room. Our twin room was spacious, furnished with attention, and with beautiful views up and down Borrowdale. The cooked breakfast was great. One feels there is attention to detail throughout, down to the little thermos of fresh milk for tea left in the room each day. It is a little isolated, but then that is what we wanted, but there is wifi for those who can't bear to be away from the world for a few days. I thoroughly recommend this place
