On arrival we were given a small cramped room that overlooked a rooftop, for such a beautifully located hotel we were both so dissapointed and asked to be moved, which was not a problem, however not a good start either.
On booking through the travel agent i was informed that the evening meal consisted of 4coursesi didnt imagine it to also consist of what was to be one of the most embaressing moments of my life! A very abrubt waitress on producing the menu informed us and the guests sat close by that due to booking through SuperBreaks the package only included 2courses,not 4,pointing to what we could order, and then have her strip the table of all cutelry that wasnt needed for the courses that we wernt allowed!!!
Needless to say even though the food was lovely we were far too upset to enjoy it,along with the added fact the candle had gone out on our table, and we had run out of water which nobody noticed yet other tables were very well looked after, obviously not SuperBreak customers.
Overall....beautiful place and surroundings, excellent food, but unfriendly staff to the point of been ignorant, which ruined it.

Thank you for taking the time to review our fantastic hotel on this site.

As a valued Superbreak client you paid a £25 supplement to upgrade from bed and breakfast to dinner, bed and breakfast. Our menu consists of 4 courses @ £36 or 2 courses @ £28, naturally we offer our Superbreak clients the 2 course @ £28 option meaning that they get the added value of a £3 saving from the normal price. We always offer our Superbreak clients (as you are aware) the option to pay a further £8 to upgrade to the 4 course option.

You will recall that on Saturday morning you visited the reception desk to complain about only being offered the 2 course option, the above was explained to you and, as a gesture of goodwill, we offered you the 4 course option at no extra charge on the second night of your stay. How strange you neglect to mention this, and the birthday card and chocolates we gave your partner, in your review!

Kind regards

After arriving at this great location we parked the car at the front of the hotel to unload. (only disabled parking and loading/unloading at the front). Our cases were taken in by the smiling helpful porter. The receptionist welcomed us and gave some information on the hotel and facilities. we were shown to a small but quaint lift and our cases were taken to the room for us. The room was very light with views up the fell and waterfall at the rear of the hotel. we went to the lounge for afternoon tea and scounes all included. We then had a walk aroung the grounds and waterfall which were fantastic. That evening a first class meal in the resturant with very attentive staff was most enjoyable. The following day started with a good breakfast and was followed by a trip out and about returning later. We then went into the hot tub which was outside overlooking the river and falls (what a great way to unwind).
We will be returning and will tell all of our friends. Well done to all the staff and managment.
We asked for two items. One was a light and airy room due to health issues. This was done prior to arriving. The other was on going to use the hot tub (needs to be booked ) the leisure reception desk was unoccupied but had a polite notice on how to contact them. We did this and within 2 mins the tub was open and ready for use.

Just returned from a short two night break at the Lodore Falls hotel.
Booked a great deal with Travel Zoo that gave us two nights bed and breakfast with dinnwr on the first night included and afternoon tea on arrival for only £218 which we thought was a good deal

The hotel was very clean and a quick check in greated us on arrival.

Our room was 307 so obviously on the 3rd floor, so into the lift we went. My word thats a tight squeeze but served its purpose.

The room was a little small but very clean with nice toiletries and good tea and coffee facilities with enough milk for a at least 4 drinks which is great as you usually only get 2 of those tiny pots.

The view was nice with the hills and a small stream from the falls behind the hotel

A large comfy bed and pleasant room temperature.

The lounge area was comfy and the guy behind the bar was a real gent, nothing too much and running round never a minute to waste. Cream tea was a nice touch

Dress code for dinner was smart casual. So I brought trousers and a shirt which for me is unusual as i wear a shirt and tie daily at work so prefer not to when relaxing. However I was dissappointed to see the smart casual was not adhered to as there was a group wearing jeans and rugby tops. This would have been my prefered attire but if you ask for smart casual at least enforce it.

Dinner was nice but I had to go vegetarian as there was a fish dish, liver, or game stuffed with mushroom non of which i eat. However the vege was tasty.

Breakfast was adeqoute and a good start to the day.

Slightly put out by the porter who asked me to move my car from the front of the hotel to a carpark over the road. Only to return later in the evening to find loads of cars infront of the hotel. Why move me only to allow others. Again consistencey. There only seemed about 40 people staying in the hotel if that.

Lots of nice areas to sit and relax in the lobby area with nice warming fires

Indoor pool is a welcome bonus after a long day outdoors

Overall a nice out of season short break at a reasonable price.

Thank you for reviewing out hotel on this site.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed you stay with us but would like to pick up on a couple of points you raise:

* We do ask guests to dress smart casual and the vast majority of clients, like yourself, understand what this means. Unfortunately some guests do ignore our request not to wear jeans etc.
* The front of the hotel is reserved for dropping off luggage and parking for disabled guests. My porters should ask anyone parking at the front, who doesn't fit into either of these categories, to park their vehicle across the road in the main hotel car park.

I do hope you will return to The Lodore Falls Hotel again in the future.

Kind regards

Our first two days were typical Lakes weather for April - but we found lots to do in the hotel, while our soaking wet stuff went in the drying room. Friendly staff found a (sometimes wet) dog and a (vomiting once) child to be welcome additions to our party - a good test of hospitality is how kind they are when sheets need to be changed at 1.30 am. (Full marks, that lady!) Our room was a small suite, with stunning views, and very comfortable. We liked the polished wood, brass and glass, genuinely retro feel of the hotel. The last days we wound up taking tea outside, and the grounds are fine for this too. Loved the hot tub and the pool, and the en suite scenic waterfall. But while breakfast was adequate and with lots of choice, the evening meal was execrable. I hope the restaurant has got better - but it would not put us off a return trip, as Keswick is 3 miles away, and has loads of choice for meals out.

Thank you for taking the time to review our beautiful hotel on this site.

I am delighted to read that you enjoyed the comfort, facilities and location of the hotel. I am however concerned by your comments regarding our restaurant, especially as this does seem to be completely at odds with so many other reviews on this site, and would be grateful if you would supply me with further details in order that I can fully investigate where we failed to meet our own high standards. My e mail address is stephen@lodorefallshotel.co.uk
