Great hotel with ornate features and brill staff. I went here as part of Groupon offer. The room had a 4 poster bed which was very nice.

Restaurant was lovely! Fresh food and the breakfast was really nice.

The gardens at the back are fab to sit in and relax!

Room Tip: Get the steak from the restaurant cooked to perfection

This is now the third visit to Nent Hall. Again the only thing to moan about is the weather but so what? The whole area and especially this hotel is great. Lots of things to do around here but most involve walking so be prepared. Everyone in this hotel wants to welcome you and look after you! They care and they are certainly characters.. the last night of Helen here was an utter delight; she kept going when the place was utterly overflowing and most people would have run for the door. Food always good but don't expect gourmet. The quality shines through and everything seems to be local. Try their eggs..

It is not a modern hotel but an old house that has been converted. Good old English charm and quality... keep it up! I'll be back....

Room Tip: Stayed in room 16 in the extension; has a 4 poster; also 23 in the old part. 16 preferred!

From arriving (early) and being welcomed and seated in the comfortable lounge with coffee the whole short break was a pleasure. The room was large ,warm and comfortable (24) Plenty of towels and a big bath. The food in the bar and restaurant was well cooked and plentiful and the staff were truly attentive and efficient. This is certainly an area of outstanding beauty and the Nent Hall hotel is certainly one we would return to.

Room Tip: The new wing are all ground floor rooms, so no stairs for us older travellers !!

Really enjoyed a couple of days at Nenthall. Our hosts were really warm and welcoming and we immediately felt at home in the hotel. Our room was very nice and large. The bathroom would have benefitted from some updating but the bath was big and there was plenty of hot water and fluffy towels after a long walk. We ate in the bar both nights and the food really was good. The breakfast was beautifully served and they do a veggie cooked breakfast too which is always a bonus!
We left eager to return for a second trip!

Just returned from a Groupon weekend deal. Hotel itself a bit dated but this only adds to the ambience of the place. Rooms are very clean and tidy with a quite modern bar serving Peroni on tap (although it's £4 a pint!)
Ate in restaurant Friday and Saturday nights and both meals were very tasty and wholesome. The White Choc cheesecake was huge and finished me off!
If you have the chance take the river walk to Alston, it's 3.5 miles each way but is well worth it. There are some more difficult bits of the walk but overall easy enough. We were lucky as the sun was shining all day.
All in all an enjoyable weekend. One thing to note is that the small print says that if you stay on a Saturday night it's an extra £20pp, no we didn't realise this either!
