Victoria Park holds the prestigious Green Flag award & was opened in 1900 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, Heritage Lottery funding has restored Victoria Park to its former splendour and enabled the replacement of the major features that had disappeared over the years such as the bandstand, fountain and lake. It has many impressive featues including 2 large play areas - one for toddlers and one for older children. The toddlers play area is all on soft play surface and is fantastic. The older play area also includes a wet play area, which is very popular. Other features include an ice cream kiosk, contemporary park pavilion serving snacks and Starbucks coffee, bowling greens, model boating lake, floodlit tennis, basketball courts and skate facility, climbing boulder, glasshouses with iguanas, pets corner and butterfly house. It is simply one of the best parks I've ever visited & a great place for families all year round. Plus it's free entry & there are no restrictions for parking on the adjacent roads.
