Aftewr waiting for months for the new "Pub" to open we have tried it three times but as of today "Never No More". We have to date had three meals and never received satisfaction. We have given it a couple of weeks to "Settle In" but it is still as bad. Come on Green King buck up before you find the Widnes folk voting with their feet.
We order two classic hotdogs with separate sauces, we went through the order at the counter to make sure they ubderstood what we wanted. We also ordered a Steak and Ribs. After some 40 mins the hotdogs arrived covered in sauce, we sent them back. Some 15 mins later we received the new hotdogs has we had ordered but the chips where stone cold!. After another 10 mins I had to ask a waitress where the third meal was! When after another 5 mins the meal arrived we where told they had been waiting for the chips to cook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So disappointed. My son went to the bar where a waitress walking past with a full tray dropped a cup of coffee at the side of him. It splashed all over his trousers but all that was said was that there was some serviettes on the bar. Then as a final put off I asked for a pint and half of Carlsburg lager as it is on offer at £1.99 per pint. When I received my change I had been charged £1.99 for the pint and £1,40 for the half. I asked why and was told that it is only the pints that are on special offer. As someone who lives about 400mts from this pub they are missing the plot. Back to the four topped oak unless we only want drinks. (Drinks actually very good). We will give it another shot in about two months but if that is the same as now that will be it.

Visited the observatory with a family of 6 altogether. We were seated to a lovely booth by the hosts and told about the offer about kids eating for £1, as a family with 3 kids this is a great offer and saves us money. There was a wait on food but this is expected as it being really busy. Food was good when it did arrive, although we had one meal missing which was quickly sorted by the staff. Staff all seemed very happy and experienced and our main waitress katy was very attentive and took a strong interest in ensuring our night went smoothly so if you see this thankyou. We will definitely be returning.

Went with a family of 9 of us waited 30 mins for table which they tried to squeeze us all in a booth which fitted only 6 they had to get another table for 3, went to bar for drinks stood for 15 mins only to be told if you wasnt ordering food i would need to go to the other end of bar which i refused as i had been stood long enough, staff were miserable especially the manager and slow wasnt the word. When we got our food it looked like it had been threw on the plate in a hurry my steak was burnt on outside an blood inside couldnt chew it the ribs were lovely though they melted in your mouth overall it was like organised chaos i now its a new pub but they should have staff with a least a little bit of experiance and a smile on there faces.

Nicely decorated and clean but as a 2 week old pub you would expect it to. Staff are falling over themselves to get in and out of the kitchen. Some are more helpful than others. Food is cheap pub grub but reasonably priced. Wine is cheap but beer is expensive!! Nice outside area. Told over the phone you cannot book a table but when we got in there most of the tables were reserved!! A few tables with tvs attached to the wall which would be good if entertaining kids although no sound for obvious reasons. Would be good if the lads want to watch the football if its displayed without having to go and find any big screens in the bar area. Probably need to return once the novelty has worn off to see if it will be a regular spot to visit.

The Observatory is a new 'Hungry Horse' restaurant opened in the Upton Rocks development near Widnes on the 29th April 2013. Like all new restaurants it is experiencing some teething problems (i.e. new staff, delays, cold food from the kitchen). The actual physical environment has been well designed and implemented and it is clean and modern, however, the wash rooms were already showing signs of neglect / disrepair. We visited on Monday 6th May at approximately 18:00hrs and we experienced significant delays in delivering our food (over 1.5hrs) and this was not explained to us when we ordered the food. Upon arrival our food order was incorrect, items were missing and the food was cold and had that rubbery reheated texture. No apology was offered by the servering staff. The pub was very, very busy and there is insufficient room between tables so that the waiting staff are constantly disturbing your meal to squeeze between the tables. The price was over £60 for two adults and two children and this would be reasonable if the service, timeliness and quality was competitive but my recommendation would be to visit the Ring O' Bells nearby for a high quality cooked meal with excellent serving staff. If you prefer the franchise restaurants then head to Nando's or Frankie & Benny's in Widnes - equivalent prices but an overall more polished experience.
