“excellent food”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

I visited The Crown on 9th November with 2 colleagues. The choice of menu was extensive and something for everyone, and all budgets. Food is all fresh, nothing processed. we all chose something different from the menu and all looked very appetising. Friendly bar staff and waitress. Food delivered piping hot, and tasty. had a lovely relaxing evening - with 3 nice bottes of wine too ! very relaxed atmosphere no one rushing us for our table, Whilst we were there I picked up the Xmas menu. available from the 24th November to Christmas eve. sounds very good. Starters: butternut squash and sweet potato soup with parmesan beignet and seeded bread; cornfed duck liver pate with festive pear and raisin chutney and farmhouse toast; prawn and crayfish cocktail with spiced Marie Rose sauce and buttered farmhouse bread; Wild mushroom fricassee bruchetta with soft free range poached egg and micro herts....main course: fresh boned and rolled Cheshire turkey served with traditional trimmings, goose fat roast potatoes, and turkey gravy; 8oz 28 day aged sirloin steak cooked to your liking with creamy garlic mushrooms, onion rings, grilled tomato and trice cooked chips; Panfried fillets of seabass with basil crushed new potatoes in beurre blanc sauce; Roasted root vegetable and camembert parcel served with tomato and mascarpone fresh herb sauce and buttered new potatoes. and Deserts: home made Christmas pudding with brandy sauce; vanilla panacotta with mulled wine and berry compote; chocolate and orange brownie with white chocolate ice creamn and chocolate sauce; English cheese board; Mature farmhouse Cheddar, Somerset Brie, Shrophsire blue with caramilised onion chutney, grapes, apple, and biscuits. £29.95 adults £14.95 children. sounds lovely, think we will have to give that one a go.

“Excellent Food, Service & Atmosphere”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Yet again The Crown exceeds expectations. Fabulous food with a great friendly atmosphere. The service was relaxed but correct and the food was fresh and exciting. Most certainly higher end value without the snobbery. This pub/restaurant is suitable for all. I have eaten here many times as a family and with friends.

“Excellent food - great atmosphere”

Superb. Far exceeds expectations - not usual 'pub grub'. Had the lamb livers to start followed by monk fish. Absolutely wonderful.

“Great meal, great atmosphere.”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

My partner & I spent Friday evening where I had the Cumberland Sausage with Mash, it was "class" food the atmosphere in the pub was excellent.

The menu is varied and on one of my previous visits I had Crocodile which was great.

With a blend of gents having a drink after work before going home to the wife, to families and couples enjoying an evening meal was brilliant.

I can't fault it, the service was excellent, the food was hot, I would recommend this pub to anyone.
