I visited The Crown on 9th November with 2 colleagues. The choice of menu was extensive and something for everyone, and all budgets. Food is all fresh, nothing processed. we all chose something different from the menu and all looked very appetising. Friendly bar staff and waitress. Food delivered piping hot, and tasty. had a lovely relaxing evening - with 3 nice bottes of wine too ! very relaxed atmosphere no one rushing us for our table, Whilst we were there I picked up the Xmas menu. available from the 24th November to Christmas eve. sounds very good. Starters: butternut squash and sweet potato soup with parmesan beignet and seeded bread; cornfed duck liver pate with festive pear and raisin chutney and farmhouse toast; prawn and crayfish cocktail with spiced Marie Rose sauce and buttered farmhouse bread; Wild mushroom fricassee bruchetta with soft free range poached egg and micro herts....main course: fresh boned and rolled Cheshire turkey served with traditional trimmings, goose fat roast potatoes, and turkey gravy; 8oz 28 day aged sirloin steak cooked to your liking with creamy garlic mushrooms, onion rings, grilled tomato and trice cooked chips; Panfried fillets of seabass with basil crushed new potatoes in beurre blanc sauce; Roasted root vegetable and camembert parcel served with tomato and mascarpone fresh herb sauce and buttered new potatoes. and Deserts: home made Christmas pudding with brandy sauce; vanilla panacotta with mulled wine and berry compote; chocolate and orange brownie with white chocolate ice creamn and chocolate sauce; English cheese board; Mature farmhouse Cheddar, Somerset Brie, Shrophsire blue with caramilised onion chutney, grapes, apple, and biscuits. £29.95 adults £14.95 children. sounds lovely, think we will have to give that one a go.
