We took two grandsons ( 10 & 7) for a different kind of treat. We were expecting something special for £15.95 family entrance, but far too many of hands-on exhibits were well past sell-by date and in desperate need of maintenance. Lighting was really poor for a lot of the hands-on instructions. Additional change of £1 per head for make-your-own rocket experiment extends to obligatory grown-up supervisor! Could not even take rockets home. 3D cinema wasn't showing. I'd have liked a better guide (I'd have expected to be looking towards Liverpool cathedrals/airport for example) to views from the observation deck, which was good.
Should have foregone the chemistry element (sic!) and taken them to Manchester Museum of Science and Industry - free entry. The kids, enjoyed and were stimulated by the puzzle deck even though materials were pretty basic.
