Our family have been long standing fans of Panama Hatty's and despite living over 20 miles away, we've felt that making the journey a few times a year was always worth while.
The last few visits however have in our opinion seen a slight drop and our nearly grown up kids no longer think it is worth the effort. Their favourite Nachos's changed a few years ago, so what was a huge plate of the best nachos in the UK has become a large plate of average Nachos that are totally different to what used to be served. Likewise, we've seen some of our favourite vegetarian dishes (like the Hatty's Patty) disappear off the menu. As observed by other customers, drinks have always been a bit pricy. £3.95 for a non alcoholic cocktail is fairly expensive, but on our last visit, the glass was so full of ice that after literally a couple of sips, the drink had gone. Again, we got the feeling that if a small portion is served, then a second might be ordered.
People new to Panama Hatty's would still be impressed and rightly so. Service for us has always been good (if a little slow to try and attract someones attention), but the building and decor are very special, as is the welcome. We just miss the final bit that used to make a good place great.
