We have just come back from a 2 night stay at this hotel. It's got to be the best place I have stayed in.

From the moment you walk in till you go nothing us to much for the friendly and helpful staff.

We had a four poster room. It had a living room and small dinning area also. The room was very clean the bed was large and fresh.
The bath room had a bath and shower in which always had hot water, a none steam mirror was very helpful.
Under floor heating was very nice when coming out of the shower
Food was stunning both in the restaurants and bar area.

We can only say good things about this hotel and the people who work very hard to make sure you have a great stay
We have already booked anther two night stay very soon

Just returned from a wedding at Peckforton Castle.....WOW! What an absolutely stunning place! From driving through the impressive gatehouse over the drawbridge and into the grounds you just know this is going to be special. Check-in was a joy and the valet parking was very welcome. The big log fires and the sound of the birds of prey calling from out in the courtyard really set the scene. We had book an 'executive' suite and I must say it was really good. Everything is in keeping with the medieval style of the castle but bang up to date with the amenities. The staff were more than helpful at all times and the wedding venue in the Great Hall was stunning. Food was first class and everwhere we went was spotless. You really need a few days to actually explore all of what this venue has to offer........little hidden lounges and bars, big log fires, spooky corridors and suits of armour! I am now looking for an excuse to return and spend some more reaxing time in this truly special place. I can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: Bickerton Suite was very good (huge bed!)

Stayed at Peckforton in April 2012 and would go back in a heart beat. Our room was up in a turret with fantastic views. The restaurant was excellent and good value for quality and the grounds and overall ambience of the property were superb. The staff were courteous and friendly. In fact i am trying to think of an excuse to visit that part of England again just so I can stay at Peckforton.

Room Tip: Turret rooms excellent and romantic, though obviously lots of stairs.

We were invited as guests of our son and (now) daughter in law to share their special day. The venue is fabulous it would be hard to beat it. The staff are exceptionally well trained and made us soooooo welcome. We were given the Tollemarche Suite, if it wasn't the best suite in the hotel I can't image what splendour the best offers! The food was good but not exceptional and I was a little disappointed with the wine selection but a word in a waiters ear soon produced a much more acceptable wine list. The wedding itself went off like clockwork hardly a hitch (sorry) in a super gallery. The MC was beyond compare and shepherded us all from room to room like the pro he most certainly is.
We did have a fire alarm in the early hours but because of the recent history it was all taken very seriously. We didn't have a fire and were not told what had caused the problem. I seriously think they should change the siren to something that sounds like a fire alarm my wife and I spent ages trying to find the source of the high pitched noise!!
The only thing I didn't really like is the birds of prey, eagles, owls, falcons and so forth which were tethered to tree stumps outside the main entrance. We were told that this isn't cruel but we were not convinced.
Finally, it is a typical wedding venue, everything is very expensive.

Room Tip: It is a huge place with interminable corridors, parts of the hotel have a lift to the upper floors o...

I booked an overnight mid-week stay for myself and my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The anniversary package arranged was good quality, including balloons, chocolate strawberries and champagne. We stayed in Alpraham, the room was spotless and extremely well presented, huge bathroom with underfloor heating. The reception team were lovely and extremely helpful. We had afternoon tea in the Brasserie, which was a delight. In the evening we ate in the 1851 restaurant, the service and food were 5*, we upgraded to the a la carte menu, which is definitely worth the extra cost if you love fantastic flavours and top notch food. There is a lovely atmosphere around the castle with every member of staff well-presented and willing to greet you and make you feel welcome.
The only one small negative, as pointed out in previous reviews, is that the castle is popular with weddings and conferences. We were woken up a few times during the night with a few noisy people returning to their rooms or trying to find them after a late finish to their function.

What an amazing place, a real castle, with charm, character and all the modern amenities you could wish for. The staff are all friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic and beautifully presented.

Make sure you visit the Wine Cellar, great atmosphere and totally unique! What a place, we will definitely be returning and recommending.

We did a one night mid-week break here. Friendly reception staff who checked us in and gave us instruction on finding our room. I suspect this was a test! The place is massive - and signs just saying 'bedroom' are misleading. I think it must have taken us ten minutes to locate our room.

Once found it was absolutely fine. Spotlessly clean, nice bathroom and a view to the back of the hotel.

Breakfast was in their main restaurant. My criticism was that the lay out of the buffet breakfast was ergonomically faulty - with people crowding around the end of the restaurant.

I am sure that a stay at Peckforton Castle in the summer would be a delight. The grounds are criss-crossed with rights of way. I do not think we saw the place at its best and came away with a feeling that the hotel has a somewhat 'soul-less' feel to it.
