“I had my wedding here - Amazing!”
Reviewed May 27, 2011

I just wanted to write a few sentences to tell you about my fabulous wedding day at Peckforton Castle. From the second i checked into the castle from the moment i checked out i was treated like royalty. The staff here cannot do enough for you, the rooms were beautiful, the bridal suite breath taking, the food delicious and the setting truely magical. My wedding day was only 2 days ago and every single guest, both those who stayed over and those who didnt couldnt fault anything about the day. I persoanlly want to thank Josh, Lucy and polly who were all amazing. Thanks again for a truely memorable day

Stayed one night as a birthday treat. The building and grounds are fantastic. Really enjoyed it. Ate out at the Cholmondeley Arms, just off the A49 acouple of miles away, and had a very nice meal. Falonry bit was fantastic too.

We were looking for a wedding venue and after visiting some gastly venues we finally found what we were looking for at Peckforton Castle. As soon as we walked through the arch into the courtyard we just knew this was the place for us to get married.
We were given a FULL tour of the castle by Mr Naylor and a list of options for our day, we thought it was going to be out of our budget but there are plans to suit most peoples pockets. There were clear prices for everything and no hidden charges that alot of places creep into the overall costs which was nice.
Through out the run up to the wedding we had constant feed back and advice from Jo Anne and Lucy and trust me these girls know what they are doing and took alot of the stress away from us by assuring us it was all taken care of for the big day.

When the 17th April finally arrived we were blessed with bright blue skys and a perfect spring day. I had made lists of things I had to do the morning of the wedding but the management staff on the day (Mathew and Poppy) just took everything off me and managed it. You sometimes forget that when your arranging the day you feel you have to get things done yourself, well these people do this for a living and so I let them, I didn't have to worry as when I came down after getting changed it was all done!

At the church service we had a civil ceremony but it felt like a proper church such is the stunning setting of the great hall, we had 120 guest and they all fitted in no problems.
After the service we had drinks on the courtyard and a bird of prey display which kept everyone occupied while the photographer Sam Browne took us away for our private shoot, everyone loved the relaxed atmosphere in the grounds and being ouside on such a lovely day was an added bonus, along with the outside bar.
Once the photos were complete we went into the wedding breakfast which had been laid out beautifuly, the natural light coming in just lights the place up.
The food was fantastic, we were told that the new chef had taken over and made a few changes but wow! the food was delicious and good time between courses, just enough to fill you up (ready for the booze!) but not a mass of food, good quality and well cooked esp for 120+ guests. We had the toastmast Peter for the day and well worth it, without him there to organise everyone it would have been like herding cats!
After the wedding breakfast we then went back into the great hall for the evening function with the disco and band, the place looked totally different with the uplights and tables. We booked a DJ through Hipswing and a band Rockyoke who we had seen at a charity party, now Karioke is not my thing but these boys do most of the singing and mix between themselves doing sets and getting people up to sing with them which had everyone up dancing and singing not the tacky type that I'm used to in pubs.
We opted for the hog roast at 9.30pm and that just went! by that time everyone was hungry again and we felt we made a good decission doing that, not much left at 10pm!
At midnight due to noise we went to the cellar bar and carried on the night in style plenty of shots and port, think the last ones left at 4am me and my new wife bowed out at 1.30am having had one increadible day.
If you are looking to get married there go for it! its a once in a lifetime experiance and we loved every minute of it, yes it is expensive but is she not worth it??? I would reccomend the castle to anyone, looking back at some of the old reviews I was a little sceptical but that was then, this is now and the day could not have gone any better.
Thank you Jo Anne, Lucy, Poppy, Mathew and Mr Naylor for allowing us to have our wedding at your castle.

Mr & Mrs Ulyat

i have always dreamed of staying in a castle so when i managed to find peckforton castle on laterooms.com for £70 per night with breakfast included i booked it straight away for myself and my husbands anniversery. Oh my god it was everything i'de dreamed of and more, what an amazing place from the moment you drive up to the castle along the woodland lane to walking into the grounds to check in, its a feast for the eyes, there are peacocks wondering the lawns, and birds of prey waiting to do their displays. Entering the castle you can tell straight away this is posh, our bedroom was slightly on the small side but the view more than made up for it. We had an evening meal there which was fantastic, and the breakfast was also brilliant. I can not do this hotel justice in the words i write but if you are looking for a romantic setting for a special occassion then please consider this hotel, we will be going again but this time we'll pay the extra and stay in one of the more romantic rooms.

My partner and I have just come back from one night at Peckforton Castle as a suprise birthday treat. It was fabulous, easy to find and very grand on entering. Everywhere was clearly signed, once we had entered the building we were greeted politely at reception, we arrived in the evening and had a table booked for an evening meal. We were given our room key , directions to our room and confirmation of our dinner reservations.

We did struggle to find our room to start, but thats mostly as we were to busy chatting and gazing! fortuantly there was a very friendly staff member who put us on the right track. Our room was a nice size with a bath and shower and all the facilities shown on the list, the bed was very comfy and there was an information booklet, which we found useful as I have to admit we were unsure of where and when breakfast would happen!
We dined that night in the 1851 restaurant, on arrival we were greeted and shown to the table, and the menu options explaind clearly, the staf were excellent, unfortunatly we didnt take note of names but an Irish lady, who appeared to be the main waitress that night gave us extra attention and care, and made sure we got just what we wanted.
If i was to nit pick we did wait a while for the food, but the detail and passion put in to food it made sense that from the moment we picked what we wanted all care was taken to produce food at a great standard. The goats cheese cheese cake was wonderful for me who prefers savoury food but wanted a treat of a dessert.
I would look to go back again, maybe with friends as well, even for the amusement to see the peacocks heckle those that try there hand at crazy golf! and peek around a few more corners of the castle. It was a fab get away especially for the deal we got.

Fantastic building in a rural setting with mostly friendly and helpful staff, though the restaurant staff all seemed very young and inexperienced. This meant that service was slow, reminders had to be issued more than once and we even had to show them cork etiquette when it came to opening/pouring the expensive wines. Having said that, the food was very good and breakfasts were excellent - plentiful and varied. There are no gardens so views from rooms are non existant - at least not from the three rooms that hosted our party - however, I loved the antics and sounds of the resident peacocks.
Our well heated room was huge with a seating area and though we could have done with a coffee table it was well furnished. However the lighting was inadequate - it was so dark in the wardrobe/baggage corner that I ended up moving the suitcase on its stand across the room to under the window - and there was no full length mirror in the room. The iron and board were very welcome.
The compact bathroom (no window) was adequate with fairly good water pressure in the not huge shower but the fixed plate shower head meant that it was awkward to shower without wetting hair. Also there was nowhere to hang towels in use except over the side of the bath and when using the bath the only place was on the floor.
The neighbouring room's bathroom must have been next to ours (not behind) on the other side of the wall and all next door's water sounds could be heard as if they were coming from our bathroom - not good.
The 4-poster bed was huge and very comfortable and the rural setting meant that we had a peaceful nights sleep - except, that is, when the bathroom next door was in use!
Though we enjoyed our stay, mostly due to the LRE, we would not return. Some reviewers mention "good value", well that may be true if you get a special price but when you have to pay full price as we did (more than double what some reviewers quote), then I would have to say that we did not get our money's worth.

Our son and his now wife had their wedding on May 2nd 2011 at Peckforton Castle.
My wife, daughter and I together the brides parents and repective families and many other wedding guests spent the day, evening and night here.
There aren't enough superlatives to say about how fantastic the castle hotel, staff and overall service we encountered. From the day when the respective parents met there to discuss wedding arrangements with the hotel management we all were so impressed with the overall professionalism of the complete hotel team. All the details they gave us and promises they made were performed to the maximum efficiency and they all contributed in making the day and evening into what could only be described as a "Fabulous Experience" not only for the bride & groom but every relative and guest that were there. Each of us will go away with the knowledge that this was a complete success. The staff were excellent from the management down through all the ranks.
We all found it to be an overall experience that we will enjoy looking back on for many years. Congratulations Peckforton Castle management & staff. Give yourselves a "Gold Star". Brilliant!!

Room Tip: Speak to the management lead by Mr Naylor.
