“Mixed feelings”

This place looks great from a distance on the outside, once inside though it's apparent that it does need a lot of tlc and some money spending on it. We stayed one night and were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The furniture in our room (no. 24) was worn out and needed replacing, and the room layout was badly planned. The bar service was poor, no nibbles and the young staff need training on how to make pimms :-). The menu choice that night was very limited and uninspiring as there had been no delivery that day, but what we ate was very tasty. If you don't need to eat at the hotel try the Dysart Arms in Bunbury, we ate there the next day; great menu and fantastic food.
On the plus side, the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, although they do need to learn to knock before they busy into your room to clean it at 10:30 in the morning.
Point to note, it's a very easy walk into the village if you fancy a stroll along the canal.

This is the second time we have stayed here on a Travel Offers deal. It is really convenient for Chester and North Wales. The hotel is in a lovely, quirky old building and a pleasant rural setting. The rooms over look fields and are nice and quiet, very clean and comfortable. The staff are great and the food in the restaurant is lovely, even on a dinner B and B deal the food choices were excellent. The only slight problem was an inaccuracy in the billing which was a genuine mistake related to a member of staff being unfamiliar with the travel offers deal and soon rectified with no embarrassment.

We stayed at the wild boar hotel on Tuesday 24th June for 1 night for our anniversary through a livingsoccialdeal. On arrival we was greeted by a lovely receptionist, our room was on top floor with nice views over the countryside, nice comfy bed, bathroom nice with lovely fluffy towels, we had a 3 course meal included in our deal, food was superb, quality and presentation and also the 2 male waiters gave great service, also a lovely lad on the bar was nice and chatty. Breakfast very nice and plentiful, again good service. This hotel is in a nice location. We did a lovely walk from the hotel to Beeston castle upto Peckforton castle and back along the canal to the hotel on a lovely sunny day. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: We was in room 35 on top floor

My wife and I and her parents visited the Wild Boar for Tea. We were all very disappointed with the experience. The hotel is well situated in lovely countryside. It looks impressive from the outside but is drab, dreary and tired on the inside. The tea itself was mediocre at best. We were served tuna and ham sandwiches, date cake, shortbread and scones. The sandwiches were ordinarily, what you might have expected to have been served on British Rail thirty years ago, the scones were heavy and stale and the cake tasteless. The spout of one of the teapots was chipped. Overall, a rather depressing experience. We felt we had stepped back into the sixties.

A very nice Hotel in a lovely location, only one nights stay unfortunately, the restaurant was excellent, only one little moan and that was that the kettle, tea and coffee was hidden away in the cupboard, we didn't know it was there until it was time to leave.

We are having our wedding reception here in November and wanted to stay for a night to try the place out first so we have just got back from there today!
I can't praise the place enough, the staff are excellent and some of the most friendly I've come across. We had a fantastic suite which was huge with an excellent bathroom and fantastic views across rolling hills, we had treatments in the spa which were the best I've ever had and came out very relaxed. The evening meal was excellent and it was lovely sitting in the lounge afterwards having a few post dinner drinks.
The hotel has a lovely feeling about it and the staff can't do enough for you. Compared to a very popular local castle that we've stayed at that charge 3 times price this place beats it hands down for the way the place makes you feel and I would have no problem recommending this to anyone.
Thank you to everyone at The Wild Boar and I can't wait for my wedding on 9th November :-)

We went here for an afternoon tea bought for us as a present. It was not the biggest tea for two we have ever had, but, the sandwiches tasted fresh and the cakes were lovely. The staff could perhaps learn that freezing cold milk in a jug cools down the coffee in a cold cup too much and would have been better hot or at least warm. The building and grounds looked the part but inside the place looked tired although comfortable.
