We had a pleasant drive into the country for tea at The Wild Boar Hotel.
The sandwiches were ok, one was perhaps Tuna, a little too salty. The cheese was very nice.
The cake, scones and shortbread were very nice indeed. The slices of chocolate cake could have been used as car ramps they were that large. A choice of cake may have been good.
Tea, mmm, we had to ask for another bag, it was very weak at first.
All in all it was a good afternoon, and a wowcher to boot.
The staff were friendly and approachable and appeared like Mr Ben, just at the right time.

Great for a treat but don't book it for late afternoon otherwise you will still be full by the time you have your evening meal.

When we arrived in reception we received a very warm welcome. The receptionist guided us through to the lounge where we were greeted with a smile even though we were 45 minutes early. The afternoon tea was certainly well worth the money we had paid though Woucher, but I would not have liked to pay the advertised price. We had brown bread with tuna and white bread with ham. They had been made beforehand and stored in the fridge, OK but not special. The scones tasted alright, but because they had been stored in the fridge they were a bit dense in texture. The biscuit and the cake were OK but nothing special.
The best things about our visit were, the beautiful tudor building, lovely gardens, big car park the efficient service and the lovely welcome we received.
